It’s the murder trial of the century. And Joshua Kane has killed to get the best seat in the house – and to be sure the wrong man goes down for the crime. Because this time, the killer isn’t on trial. He’s on the jury.

But there’s someone on his tail. Former-conman-turned-criminal-defense-attorney Eddie Flynn doesn’t believe that his movie-star client killed two people. He suspects that the real killer is closer than they think – but who would guess just how close?

What drew me to Thirteen initially was the serial killer aspect. The premise is so different than anything I have read and I love legal thrillers.

Eddie Flynn is a defense lawyer and former con man. He is an oddly likable hero despite his alcoholic past, his former career running insurance scams, and his general life struggles. Flynn is approached by a big name firm to help them defend a famous client. Flynn’s job-take down the PD.

The killer’s methods in Thirteen are beyond diabolical. He manages to ensure he gets onto the jury of a murder he committed and framed someone for. It’s chilling to read the things he does to ensure he is successful. And since we know he is a serial killer, he has done this before…12 times before.

The story is fast paced and completely engrossing. You know the identity of the antagonist/killer, but that doesn’t diminish the tension of Thirteen at all. While this is book 3 of a series, I read it out of order and it was fine. However, I have since gone back and read the previous 2!

The audio, narrated by Adam Sims is great! He does a great Brooklyn accent and I felt drawn further into the story!

  1. Holy cow, this sounds super creepy but super compelling. I’ve gotta get this one on my TBR pile. Thanks for the heads up, I don’t normally venture out of the romance genre but I just might to for this one. A serial killer who gets himself onto the jury for the murder he committed and framed someone else for? Count me in!
