My Review:
Ultimately, this book just wasn’t for me. The relationship between Harlow and Iain is a taboo one and honestly not one I am comfortable with. The story just didn’t quite sit well with me. However, let me say, thats just me! If you enjoy the darker, taboo romances this is a well written and interesting book. Harlow was difficult to like so i struggled to connect with her. I recommend this book if you like taboo romances. If that isn’t for you, neither is this series!
JC Hannigan lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband, their two sons, and two dogs. She writes contemporary romance, through which she brings to light awareness of mental health and social challenges. Like any good Canadian, she loves hiking and carbs. Collide is her first novel.

1. How do you come up with your characters? Based on someone, dreams, famous people?
A combination of all three! Several of my characters have traits and characteristics of people I know in real life. Some of them have been in similar situations or gone through similar things. Jax Walker definitely was inspired by my not-at-all subtle obsession of Jason Momoa, and all of my stories stream from dreams. I had a dream about Harlow before I started writing her story – it wasn’t really about her love affair with a teacher, just her character in general. I’ve also had dreams about several of my other characters too…probably because my mind never truly shuts off when I’m sleeping. 😉
2. What genre of books do you love to read? Favorites?
I love anything in the romance category. If it’s an emotional, suspenseful, angst-riddled read then even better.
3. How do you choose a title? How do you choose character names?
Titles are SO HARD. So hard. I basically just wait until something hits me and sticks. I play around with a lot of different options. For example, Collide was going to be titled “Trainwreck”.
As for character names…my baby name list from when I was pregnant has really helped me with picking names. 😉
4. Do you map out the story before writing or do you just ‘go with it’?
I do a bit of both. I usually have a central theme and end goal in mind, and then I sit down and type whatever comes to mind. I revise a lot and I have tried plotting and outlining, I just couldn’t stick to my notes. 😉
5. If you could co-author a book with someone, who would it be and why?
Seth King or Ginger Scott. I feel like if I co-wrote something with either of those authors, we would be able to harmonize each others’ writing styles.
6. Do you have any writing rituals (listening to music, sitting in a special chair, etc).
I listen to the music that my character would listen to (example: Harlow likes Five Finger Death Punch, Florence + The Machine, Lorde etc and Jenna likes folk sounding bands like The Civil Wars), I almost always have a bag of dill pickle chips near by and I always need to write either first thing in the morning or late at night. Daytime writing is difficult.
