Trish Grant is not a romantic. Okay, so she may read her share of romance novels, but that doesn’t mean she thinks that some fellow with a six pack is going to ride up on a horse and sweep her (literally) off her feet. Romance like that just isn’t for her. It belongs on the page.

Max Jackson noticed Trish at his cousin’s funeral, of all places. She was hard to miss with her citrus-colored hair, violet contacts and fiery attitude.

Trish was just as captivated by Max. He makes her laugh, which is rare, and it doesn’t hurt that he rocks blue hair and the most killer smirk that drives her crazy. Max is there for her during a rough time and even if she wanted to, she can’t shake him.

There are things about Trish that Max doesn’t know, and she’s not going to tell him. She hasn’t told anyone and doesn’t plan on it, thank you very much. But when Trish’s life is ripped apart by a dark piece of her past, will she let Max in? Or will she give up her potential fairytale to protect her already-scarred heart from further damage?

Trish and Max were both cool, unique characters.I love the supporting characters that you have gotten to know in the previous books. Its one of the things I always love about series like this! Trish was a very broken character that you felt for. Her emotions and reactions are real and raw and you can really feel it.  Max is the most amazing person in the world. Seriously, like if science perfects cloning, I want a world filled with Max.I love Chelsea’s writing. If you are looking for a super angsty YA/NA read that isn’t all about sex, you will like this book. I actually think my high school students would LOVE it and I will probably grab a couple of copies for a few of my Seniors who are really serious readers! And seriously, the cover model is beautiful and fits the description of Trish perfectly! (PS-I think Chelsea M. Cameron has some of the most visually appealing covers! They are always so pretty and well done!)

Ok, Trish and Max reminded me of hipster joke at times. Like they were trying to be so different and unique that it wasn’t authentic.Geez the angst is a bit much (and I don’t typically mind angst!). Trish’s treatment of Max was difficult to read. She was so closed off and it really felt like she was stringing him along because she wouldn’t tell him WHY she was the way she was. Don’t get me wrong, she has a tragic backstory, but it was difficult to read about her ‘relationship’ with Max and wonder why he stuck around for so long when she was so closed off. Did I mention the angst? It bears mentioning again.Perhaps my rating would be different if I was more in the mood for an angsty read?? This might be one I revisit later with that thought in mind.
