Eighteen-year-old Sophie Shelton has left behind her comfortable, naive life in Kissimmee, Florida for a startling awakening at the University of Miami. When she begins college, she’s determined to concentrate on her education and future career as a writer. However, her life takes an unexpected turn, and she finds herself thrust into a world she never knew existed.
Immersed completely in a world of sex, love, and cutthroat Greek life, she finds herself dating the freshman quarterback, yet developing feelings for his best friend. Her own best friend advises Sophie to stop leading the two guys on, but she finds that her heart is torn. She knows her path could go either way based upon a seemingly simple choice. Who does her heart belong to? Will she be able to make the choice?
A Lovestruck Freshman, book one in the These Four Years series, will cause you to fall in love with the angst and joy of college, and understand the difficulty of Sophie’s predicament at the center of a love triangle.

what i think

A Lovestruck Freshmen is very New Adult! The overly emotional college freshmen torn between 2 guys seems a bit cliched. Actually, the book kind of reminded me of a Molly McAdams book. This is a love triangle. I am NOT a fan of love triangles. But, I thought I would give the book a shot anyway. The writing is good and the love triangle is a bit more realistic than others I have read (including that Molly McAdams book that I HATED! If you have read her books, you probably know the one I’m talking about; everyone else seemed to love it but me!). The pacing was off at times; the book would be going so slow I wanted to skim, then so fast I was sure I skipped a page. However, it is still a solid story with all the classic hallmarks of new adult-emotion, confusion, and a bit of awkwardness!

My name is Caroline A. De Jong. I’m a graduate of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California with a degree in screenwriting. There are two things you should know about me: I write what I know, but I also write what I notice. I’m a sucker for movie trailers and a good cup of coffee (preferably, Starbucks). Friends is the best show ever, hands down.

There are two things that I know in this life: that you must follow what you love, and that you must love. I began this blog with the intention of sharing what I love. To me, there is simply nothing better than writing, to transform into another’s shoes and be someone else for that moment. Someone once told me: “You’re a writer. You get to live two lives. Who else can do that?” And that’s pretty much the best thing I’ve ever heard.
