Okay, so I have GOT to stop listening to other reviewers who say “Oh, you can totally read those books as stand alones.”. Maybe they can, but it has become VERY clear to me that I can’t!! I have read Paige’s X-ops series and really enjoyed it! So, when I saw this book I was psyched. Then I started reading it and I was like “Huh? What the..? Who the…?”. Yeah, that went on for about 20% of the book before I finally realized I (personally speaking) needed to read the series before moving forward. Could I have enjoyed it? Probably. I was really getting into the plot-how did Minka end up as a hybrid? Why is Rios the only one who can calm her? Is she gonna end up having to be put down like the other hybrids (which I was REALLY curious about since I hadn’t read the other books!)? So, I decided to put this book on pause and start the series. I really love Paige’s writing style. She has a really dynamic group of characters that mesh well together, the action is intense and fast paced, and the plot is well written so that it keeps you guessing and keeps you reading. So, I highly recommend this book, I just recommend you start at the beginning. I will update my actual review once I have made it through the series!
