Meet New York's Finest-three hot brothers sworn to protect and serve the city they love . . . and the women who've stolen their hearts.
ARRESTED BY LOVE
Vincent Moretti is one of the NYPD's top homicide detectives-and one of the most eligible bachelors in town. His family, however, thinks he should date his longtime partner, Jill-a sassy, sexy, smart-mouthed blonde who drives him absolutely crazy.
Behind the quiet authority, tough-guy demeanor, and dark aviator glasses lies a man with a big soul-and a hard body that can soften any girl's heart. After years as his coworker, Jill Henley has given up hope that anything could happen between her and Vin. Besides, loving him would break all the rules. But seeing Jill with someone else triggers feelings in Vincent he never knew he had. Now he'll have to stop playing good cop/bad cop-and find a way to convince her to be his partner for life. . .

what i think

I totally fell in love with Lauren Layne when I discovered Steal Me a few months ago. So, needless to say, I was super excited for Cuff me. Vin is the broody, cranky brother. Jill is his detective partner and she is a blonde hair, blue eyed bundle of happiness. What I wasn’t prepared for was the fact that this book was one big long love triangle. My least favorite trope! Sigh…But, I trust Lauren to not do me wrong.

So Cuff Me starts with a reunion of sorts. Jill has to take a sabbatical from work to care for her mom in Florida. After three months she comes back to Vin and New York…Engaged. Of course then begins the drama of the will-they/won’t-they stuff. Honestly, I think the love triangle trope bothers me so much because I don’t want to feel like anyones second choice. Also, I don’t want to be the person who gets dumped for someone else either! Yes, Vin and Jill are the main characters so we should care more about their happiness, but this wasn’t a story where her fiancé was a bad guy. He was delightful! He was kind, sweet, caring, and genuinely loved Jill. So, seeing him get ditched was gonna be difficult. So, its about 60% of the book as a love triangle, then 40% (I kid you not, its like the last 1 percent before you figure out if they will be together or not) will they admit their feelings. It was a bit tedious. I wanted to shake them. I wanted their family to shake them!

What really kept me reading when I wanted to give up was the case they were working! I wanted to know who killed Lenora Birch! I did like the slow burn tension created between Vin and Jill. Really, overall, except for the lead feet, I did really like Vin and Jill as characters. Lauren’s writing style keeps me reading even when I might have wanted to give up. I think if any other author had attempted this trope, I might not have stuck with it as long; Lauren just weaves a great story that goes beyond the simple trope.
