From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the story of Grant, the sexy playboy who first captured readers hearts in Fallen Too Far.
When Harlow Manning's rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan's room in nothing but his boxer briefs.
Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He'd known about Nan's reputation, but still he couldn't resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow's eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?

Grant Carter did everything in his power to convince Harlow Manning that he was a good guy. More than a smooth-talker and someone she could trust. He had to overcome his reputation as a playboy, and his history with Harlow's half-sister, Nan, a woman with a reputation of her own.
Harlow had taken the chance, falling hard and fast for the guy who thrilled her with his all-consuming desire. After a lifetime of avoiding bad boys like Grant, she had opened herself to the possibilities of love...
But a life-changing secret has torn them apart, and now Grant and Harlow must decide if they have enough fight to make it work - or if the pain of betrayal has permanently destroyed their future.

what i think

So, these books are really books 7 and 8 of the Rosemary Beach series but are books 1-2 of the Chance sub series focusing on Grant and Harlow.

I loved Grant in Fallen Too Far. Then I started to hate him. By the end of Forever Too Far, I was not a Grant fan. I was however a HUGE Harlow fan! I loved her! She was sweet, normal (which is saying something for the characters in these books!) and selfless. She wanted peace and happiness. Nan was her sister so peace and happiness was tough to come by! Grant spent most of the first book screwing up. By the end of Take a Chance, I think I hated Grant more than I hated Rush. I wanted so much better for Harlow! I mean, she had to listen to Grant having sex with her horrible sister!! No, they weren’t a couple then, but it was after he had taken her virginity. And it was her sister!!! What a douche canoe!

Then he does get his act together in One More Chance. I was thankful because if he kept screwing up like Rush did through 3 books, I was gonna lose it! Poor Harlow didn’t deserve that. Thankfully, he got his act together and the drama centered around her health. This book had me in tears through the last 20%. Gah!

There is less Springer-worthy drama in these books than there was in the first 3 which I liked. It felt more mature. Don’t get me wrong-its still crazy drama-llama but nothing like the Fallen books.

And, now at the end of book 8, I can say…I don’t hate Nan. I don’t! I know that isn’t a popular opinion, but she isn’t the bad guy in my head. She is a terrible person, who does and says terrible things, but the boys have enabled her behavior. She is no different than most of the ‘heroes’ in these books! Yet, because she is a ‘mean girl’ that somehow makes her behavior worse? Grant said some horrible things to Harlow; so did Nan. Yet, we forgive Grant. And Nan does something pretty spectacular in One More Chance. Just my 2 cents…

  • POV: Dual
  • Tears: yes, in One More Chance
  • Trope: virgin, dysfunctional family
  • Triggers: none
  • Series/Standalone: Series
  • Cliffhanger: Take a chance ends with a cliffhanger; One More Chance doesn’t
  • HEA: View Spoiler »

Abbi Glines is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Rosemary Beach, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys, Field Party and Existence series. She never cooks unless baking during the Christmas holiday counts. She believes in ghosts and has a habit of asking people if their house is haunted before she goes in it. She drinks afternoon tea because she wants to be British but alas she was born in Alabama. When asked how many books she has written she has to stop and count on her fingers. When she’s not locked away writing, she is reading, shopping (major shoe and purse addiction), sneaking off to the movies alone, and listening to the drama in her teenagers lives while making mental notes on the good stuff to use later. Don’t judge.

  1. Abbi Glines’ books and I broke up a long time ago. Her books don’t work for me for some reason. I’ve heard lots of people talk about how much they hate Nan! A friend recently read her book and she liked Nan too but she was disappointed with the way the author progressed with her character. The guy sleeping with the sister would really piss me off. I don’t think I’d be able to get past that at all. And yeah honestly, her kind of drama doesn’t work well for me. 🙁

    • I couldn’t binge read these for sure. The drama is over the top so I have to pace myself. I do find them to be easy reads though and it works after I finished a heavier book or just need something easy.

Oh my goodness, you are flying through these books! (or I’m just really slow at reading any books lol). I’m so happy to see that you are still enjoying them and that they become a little less Springer-Worthy at they progress!

    • I have been gobbling these books up!! I guess I have just been in the mood for angsty stories. Plus, I wanted to get them all in before I read Up in Flames, which I loved!
