Jenny’s single-parent life revolves around her kids and her job, which means that hours of Animal Planet and strings of computer code are about all she has time for. Not that Jenny’s looking for adventure or romance—she’s the type of woman who believes in playing it safe.
When Jenny is called upon to do some consulting for the Bourbon Street Boys—a New Orleans private security firm—she knows she should stay away. They conduct surveillance on known criminals and put themselves in harm’s way pretty much every day, so No is the obvious answer…Problem is, there’s a guy on the team with a body to die for and a dimple that just won’t quit luring Jenny in, tempting her to throw all caution to the wind.
Will Jenny take the risk or will she do what she’s always done—play it safe and wait for the right time?

Wrong Place, Right Time
Elle Casey

my ku pick of the monthSo this was my first Elle Casey book and I am blown away! I really loved it! Wrong Place, Right Time is very realistic. Single mom dealing with normal life issues-lay offs, mouthy/moody preteen, trouble at daycare, lazy ex, etc. And the Bourbon Street Boys do security work like I expect it happens in real life: They do their jobs but call the cops when there is an issue! That seems totally realistic. Everything about this book just screamed normal to me and I really loved that. Don’t get me wrong-I love a good, totally unrealistic romantic suspense or PNR but sometimes its nice to find a book about a normal person with normal people problems, ya know!

Jenny is very relatable. 30 something divorcee with a bit of extra weight, struggling to manage the day to day of raising 3 kids on her own. She enjoys what she does (computer engineer) but is really struggling for money. You meet her sister, May, in book 1, Wrong Number, Right Guy but you don’t have to read that one first to understand Wrong Place, Right time (However, I plan to go back and read it now that I have discovered the series!) I also loved that 2 of the children in the story have special needs. Like I said, everything about this book just screamed normal. Literally, this could be about you, your friends, etc. And even screaming normal, I couldn’t put it down. I just had to know that things would work out for Jenny because she could have been me (not really, I mean, I don’t have kids, I’m not divorced, but I do have a weight problem and I love my job but totally struggle for money).

Was this book suspenseful? Not really. Did it keep me guessing? Nope, it was fairly predictable. Did I love it? Yep! Like I said, Jenny and Dev are 2 of the most relatable characters I have ever read. And I can’t wait to get Toni’s story!!

PS-This is another one I am dubbing “safe for my mom” because the relationship is a slow burn, and the sexy times are not overly described. In fact, there is only 1 sex scene in the book. #SafeForMyMom (Mom, you seriously better be keeping track of these books I am recommending for you!)

  1. “Safe for my mom”
    BAHAHAHA! I love it.
I’ve seen this author’s books around, but never picked them up. I do love a good book with relateable characters though. I’m glad you loved this one despite it being predictable. 🙂

    • Yes, I swear-I am going to start a “Safe for my mom” section! 🙂 She loves romance books but not all the descriptive sex! I am looking forward to more Elle Casey books for sure!

YAY, I’m so glad you reviewed and liked this book! I LOVED Shine Not Burn & Mackenzie Fire, plus some of her other books that worked well for me when I was younger. I wanted to try out some of her other books and purchased Just One Night because it sounds really good. I’m going to have to add this book to my to-read list too now! Hope you like her other books. BTW Shine Not Burn is soooooo not a “safe for mom” book lol!
