Its no secret that I love most of Entangled Brazen books. They are quick reads, full of heat and usually some fun, quirky characters. Fool Me Once fits the bill overall, but its not my favorite Brazen book.
I felt that the characters weren’t really well developed or explained. This is a typical problem in a short book, but because Audrey was a bit quirky, I wished there was more depth to her. Quinn is a stereotypically ‘down home Texas boy’ and I wanted more from him as well. But, they aren’t poorly written overall-I just wanted more I guess.
So, these 2 hate each other (you find this out in book 1 but you don’t need to read that one in order to enjoy this one!). But, they soon discover they need each other. He needs a fake date to his sister’s wedding so that his family will get off his back and quit trying to set him up with someone to marry. She needs a bodyguard of sorts to help her at a convention where she gets to play a super exclusive video game that she loves. I was psyched to know that Audrey wasn’t just a female gamer, but an incredibly good one! Yay!! She was afraid to go to the convention because of her anxiety and Quinn was to be there to help her. Neither of them were particularly fond of the plan, but both agreed to go forward with it. So, of course, through the events they get to know each other better and the feelings happen. Predictable? Yes. However, it was still an enjoyable, steamy read and thats what I want from books sometimes! Its not overly angsty either, which I am thankful for. After finishing several books in a row with high angst, I needed the break.

I just read this one yesterday and liked it a little more than you did. I think because I read it immediately after Worked Up (which I HATED), it made me like the book so much better. I would have liked to spend more time with the characters though and I agree it’s always so hard to flesh out characters in books this short. I’m glad you still liked the book overall though!
