He always followed the rules. Until she broke them.   Marc Kincaid must convince a rival werewolf pack that their worst nightmare is about to become reality. In order for their species to survive, the packs must form an alliance . To win them over, he has to play their games. But he runs across an unexpected glitch—a bonnie Fae lass with curves capable of unmanning him and a stubborn streak to match. His response to her is instant and hungry, and makes him burn for more than just survival. But she's not a rule he's willing to break.   Bronaugh Lane has been fighting her dark Fae nature her entire life. Giving up control is not in her character. If she did, she would lose everyone she cares about. So when she meets a werewolf with the hard muscles of a warrior and a soft Scottish brogue, her intense yearning for him is disconcerting. She should keep her distance, but for her own reasons, she needs to get closer to the Texas pack. And Marc is her only chance at infiltrating their den.   And then the game changes. There are no rules now. Yet they dare not surrender to their feelings. War is coming, and Werewolves and Fae are on opposite sides of the front line.

Fae Encounter is book 2 of the Kincaid Werewolves series, a spin off of Wilson’s Deathless night series. In this book, Marc is sent to parlay with another pack of wolves and warn them of the coming danger. While in Texas, he catches the scent of Bronaugh, a fae. Bronaugh sees the meeting of the wolves; she is cloaking herself (invisible) yet Marc can sense her. She knows that she cannot be caught by Marc; after all, werewolves must know what happened to her family and have been hunting the fae for years.

In the world Wilson has created, there are fae that are called ‘soul suckers’. The werewolves hate the fae, and the fae are terrified of the werewolves. However, a member of Marc’s pack has recently mated with a fae and the wolves are learning that not all fae are soul suckers. I always love the twists that Wilson gives to her world. She makes your classic shifter tale take such a unique turn with the addition of the fae.

You get a lot of back and forth between Marc and Bronaugh as the sexual tension builds. Marc fears that he would eventually have to kill her when she becomes a dark fae, so he doesn’t want to get involved with her. You also have the danger posed by the Texas pack. The story moves along at a quick pace and with the horrible events that take place in Texas, you won’t be able to put the book down until you know the outcome!
