Sage Mayson had Kimberly Cullen once, and the memory of that brief encounter has tortured him since the moment he pushed her away. He should have followed his gut, but he didn’t, and now he’s left watching the woman he wants more than anything from afar.
Kimberly vowed to protect her heart from Sage, but when her sister is murdered and her world starts to fall apart, he’s the one person she finds herself leaning on.
Getting a second chance is something Sage knows is rare. He’s not going to squander the one he’s been given, and he won’t take no for an answer when it comes to making Kim his.
But what Sage doesn’t know is Kim has a secret that could leave them both devastated and heartbroken.

ARR always give me exactly what I expect: alpha men who are pushy and growly and spunky women who are okay with it. Until Sage isn’t suspenseful, there is no danger lurking, but the story keep me reading regardless!

Sage and Kim met by chance, spent one amazing night together, but then he never called. When he finally sees her again, he rants at her and tells her to stay away from him. See, he didn’t realize she had a twin sister…Anyway, time passes, Sage realizes he made a mistake and wants Kim back. She is skeptical for sure, but eventually agrees to give it a shot. However, she keeps a secret of her own. She doesn’t tell Sage about her kidney disease. Sage and Kim try to navigate their relationship and have to build up trust and understanding again since Sage hurt Kim so badly before. Kim is still struggling with her sister’s death and the appearance of her birth mother on top of it all. Girl has a lot going on in her life! But, what will Sage do when he finds out she has been hiding something HUGE from him? (If you aren’t sure, you have obviously NEVER read an ARR book!).

Until Sage, like all the books in this series, Sage finds his ‘boom’ and does everything he can to keep her. He makes mistakes, she makes mistakes. There is lots of hot sex. Formulaic? Sure, but I enjoyed it none the less! I also enjoyed the diversity of the story. Sage and Kim are both adopted. Sage is of mixed ethnicity. ARR does a great job of tackling the various feelings of adopted children: not knowing until you are older, knowing when you are young because you’re different, deciding if you want to know your birth family, etc. Its all well done and every character in the story has a different view on the topic. I think that made it more authentic because they didn’t just ‘feel’ what they were expected to feel. All of them grapple with the decisions and aren’t sure if they are doing the right thing. Its well done!
