A one night stand.
A runaway shifter.
An unexpected claim...
I never thought I’d see her again after our primal, passion filled night together. But finding Peyton’s nearly lifeless body on my land sends a shock to my system. She’s on the run from a serial killer and looking for an ally... not a mate.
Danger.
Protect.
Mine.
My blood calls for her.
My mind screams to protect her.
My body aches to posses her.
Make her mine.
But Peyton is a loner, and she will never truly belong to anyone.
**This is book 1 in Nathan and Peyton’s story and ends on a cliff hanger**
An Unexpected Claim was an unexpected surprise! I have enjoyed Elle Christensen’s books in the past, and I love shifter PNR stories, so I snagged this up! I did feel at times that I had missed something. I don’t know if this is connected to other books of hers or if there are just a lot of characters.
Peyton, our heroine, is a very independent woman. As a panther, she is a bit of a loner and likes to flit off to new locales as often as possible. While at her home base in New York, her life takes a HUGE turn-in the form of a baby and a serial killer.
Nathan is very alpha. As the pack leader, he is used to having his orders followed and he really doesn’t understand why Peyton won’t just do what she is told. Both Nathan and Payton are keeping things from each other and that makes sense! So often in PNR stories they find their “mate” and that is just it. But, that is not how it happens for Nathan and Payton. They both readily admit they hardly know each other and while fate might have forced them together, trust is still something that has to be earned and built.
There is plenty of action in An Unexpected Claim as well. There are all kinds of issues happening in the shifter world that Nathan is trying to manage, then there is the serial killer attacking shifters who now has his sights set on Peyton. The book moves at a fast pace and I really enjoyed it!
