It has been awhile since I have done a top ten Tuesday! This week, though, I am jumping back in! Today’s topic is 10 books with ‘X’ setting. I am giving you my top 10 books with a small town setting!
Archer’s Voice: I just read this recently and loved it! It is set in the small town of Pelion, Maine and it has all the things people love about small towns. The local diner, the friendly neighbors, and the small town gossip mill!
Virtue Falls: Another small town with a diner that everyone frequents and a gossip mill that won’t quit! The gossip mill here has some serious stuff though-a gruesome murder!
Gone Too Deep: This whole series takes place is a super small town in the Rocky Mountains, but this book goes even further and takes place in the remote woods surrounding the remote town!
At Any Cost: This story of a girl on the run takes place in a very remote mountain town. The struggles of living in such a remote, snowy location are played up with some great humor and a shovel named Frank.
Stone Cold Cowboy: The setting is a farm in Montana. It doesn’t get much smaller or more isolated than that!
Kill Without Mercy: The book takes place in Newton, Iowa, complete with a small town diner and a serial killer past!
Unlawful Justice: Harmony Texas is the setting and it comes packed with racial tension and retaliation.
Bent Not Broken: A small town bookstore owner can’t escape the town’s notice!
Covered in Coal: Teen pregnancy, family business, and the always present small town gossip! This book (and the series) reads like a daytime soap opera!
Unlovable: Port Fare, NY is the setting. This small town has a drug problem that requires an undercover officer to infiltrate the high school.
There is my list! What small town settings do you love? Tell me in the comments!

Once I started thinking about it I realized that I haven’t read many (hardly any) books with a small town setting. It’s not a setting I seek out. In fact, the only ones that come to mind right now are the three books in the Thatch series by Molly McAdams. Archer’s Voice has been on my TBR, and on my bookshelf, for so long now. I feel like it’s going to break my heart so I keep putting it off. LOL
Here’s MY TTT POST.
Oh you MUST read Archer’s Voice. Its so good! I only read it last week-it sat on my kindle forever. It is sad at times, but no heartbreak-I promise!
Oh I love a small town setting!! I know some of the cozy mysteries I have are set in some. I do have some of the one syou listed on my TBR so I will have to get to them!
I haven’t read any of these but I’ve definitely added some to my TBR. I think the last book I read that was actively small town was Flood Girls, about a small town in Montana’s girls softball league..It was something but ina good way lol. Great List!
I guess I haven’t read many books set in small towns, other than some cozy mysteries. I’m not familiar with any of these but Archer’s Voice and Bent Not Broken (a bookstore!) both sound pretty good.
I love small-town romance and small-town mystery. Stone Cold Cowboy is on my TBR list (and my Kindle) because I, too, recently discovered Jennifer Ryan. And I’ll have to check out Bent Not Broken.
Oh I have been gobbling up Jennifer Ryan books like candy! And Bent Not Broken was GREAT! Definitely check it out!
You have such a great list here. I just adore small town romances. I LOVED Stone Cold Cowboy, Jennifer Ryan is brilliant.
Isn’t she!!?? I only discovered her recently!
Small town’s are the best settings for books! I think my list included mostly big cities though. 🙁 I haven’t read any on your list, but a few are in my TBR or on my wish list.
