Non-Bookish News:

I am finally on Spring Break! Wednesday was the last day for the students, then we had an in service day on Thursday, and Friday we were finally free! I have several things I need to get done over break-I need to schedule an eye doctor appointment, clean my house up, etc. But, I am hoping to enjoy some time to nap and read as well!

Wednesday before break I had a terrible day. I had an awful meeting with a parent that I won’t go into detail about, but the parent said some really hurtful things about me to another person and that person gave me the notes detailing what this parent said. It made for a very awkward meeting! The meeting lasted 3 and a half hours. I didn’t leave school on Wednesday until 5:30 pm. We started at 2:00. So, to say I needed spring break was a huge understatement. I am glad I had some really supportive coworkers who were very kind. I am the type of person who takes things like this to heart and I hate that anyone, especially a parent of one of my students, feels this way about me. I also hate that she expressed her frustrations to someone else because now I will always wonder what does that person think of me now!

Happy Easter to my Christian followers! This is one of the most Holy days in the Christian calendar. I work in a Catholic school, so we spent a lot of time discussing with the students the significance of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday (which they are all familiar with), and Easter Monday. I enjoy working in a religious environment because it forces me to be intentional with my faith, which is good! While I don’t agree with everything the Catholic church does, I do believe in Jesus and I do want to be a better Christian/Catholic. Maybe one day I will get it together!

My 13 year wedding anniversary is Tuesday! We got married in Las Vegas on a Sunday with my parents, brother, and 2 friends present. It was wonderful because I never wanted a big wedding anyway! Sometimes it seems like it was just a few months ago; sometimes it feels like way longer than 13 years! We aren’t really doing anything because money is tight with us saving up for our Europe trip in June! But, I am thankful to have had such a wonderful husband in my life for the past 13 years!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. How awkward that the parent didn’t address her concerns to you. I can’t ever understand people like that. Happy Anniversary and Happy Easter! I hope you enjoy your break and make time to relax and enjoy.

  2. Happy Easter and happy spring break! Oh, I wish I had a spring break! Busy as ever, and the funny part is that half that stuff is teaching 😀 this seems to be the busiest time for teaching somehow, at least with what I teach (business classes, not school or college)

    • I always tell my husband and friends with normal jobs I don’t know how they do it! If I didn’t get spring and summer breaks (and every other holiday!) I would never make it!

  3. I wish you and your husband a great trip in June! and don’t worry about what others think it only matters what you do. [hugs] Enjoy yourself on your spring break.

Looks like baby Fiona is doing pretty well in the pool! She’s a natural under the water. And happy Easter! Yay for break (and your upcoming trip), but sorry to hear about the parent thing. That would be really hard. Hope you have a super week and a happy anniversary too!

  5. Happy Anniversary!
Well have a Happy Spring Break. My 5-year-old is on spring break this week too. I’m thankful grandma is coming into town, so I’ll still be able to get things done, talk to an adult, and not feel all stressed having a 5-year-old around 24-7 7 days a week. Ahhh ^_^
And, last I’m sorry about the parent issue. Some people can be tough to deal with.
Great book haul. I hope you enjoy. Happy Reading!

  6. Happy Anniversary!!! Wow, so Happy for you. And Happy Easter, too! I hope you’re having a wonderful time. Enjoy this break, Sam. Wow, Lots of books! I hope you’re loving them all. Looking forward to your reviews. Let me know whenever you find Awesome books. I love your taste in books. ?

I wish my daughter’s spring break had been after Easter. I hope you are enjoying your time off and getting some much needed rest and reading time in. I am so sorry about that parent’s comments. I am similar in that I take stuff like that to heart too. Sending you a big hug.

Happy Anniversary! Thirteen years is wonderful!

I hope you are having a great week, Samantha. I’m sorry for not visiting last week. It’s been a bit crazy for me as of late. Hopefully I can post and catch up with everyone soon.

Sorry to hear that someone said hurtful things about you 🙁 so.. yay for Spring Break and getting some distance from school! I also take things to heart so I think I know wheat you mean. I don’t agree with everything the Catholic church does either but I was raised catholic so when I get religious [which is not often] it’s usually around the catholic faith Happy 13th anniversary!

  9. Hooray for spring break! Hope you get all your stuff done while still managing to enjoy plenty of down time. I’m jealous! 🙂 What an awful situation with that one parent. To talk about you to someone else… that meeting had to be truly awkward. Did you feel any better after the meeting? Like maybe the parent’s concerns were addressed (whether they were legitimate or not)? Like you, I totally take that stuff to heart and tend to dwell on it way longer than I should. I hope you’re able to put it behind you. And happy anniversary to you! I also got married in Vegas. 🙂

    • Oh that meeting was so awkward!! At first, the parent didn’t realize I had been given a copy of the notes/comments she made. Then it got SUPER awkward! Sigh. I feel like we both said what we needed. She explained her feelings, I explained mine. Do I think we came to any kind of agreement? No, other than to agree to not agree. Oh well!
Getting married is Vegas is the best, right?
