This Week’s Book Haul:

Thanks to the authors/publishers for these beauties!

Non-Bookish News:

Thanks for all the support last week. Monday at work I had to give a presentation to the staff regarding a few best teaching practices that we are implementing. If you are a teacher you know, change is typically NOT well received. So, I was nervous about facing my coworker and having to present to the staff. However, everything went fine. My coworker pretty much ignored me for the first half of the week (fine with me!), and then by the time we had to talk again, we were both just kind of like ‘meh. whatever’. So, things are okay now! Thank goodness! I hate conflict!

Saturday I had to administer the ACT at my school. Its easy money but its BORING! I could use the time to get some work done, but at 8 am on a Saturday, I just never feel that productive. So, I pretty much just sat in my office and read a book! This is my last week of 6 day work weeks so YAY for that! Having to come to school on a weekend is just a major bummer.

Last week I mentioned getting declined for a book on NetGalley. Well, 2 days later I got an email from the publisher with the widget. I was like “Seriously!??!?”. I went through all that angst for nothing! Sigh…But, on the plus side, Yay because I totally wanted to read this book!!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Lots of abs in your book haul this week! The Grace Burrowes one looks good especially. I’m glad that your presentation went well and things were less awkward with your coworker this week. I don’t know how you can go in to school on weekends! Good thing that’s ending. I hope you enjoy your new reads this week!
    Have a great week ahead!

    • Oh my gosh I didn’t even notice how ab heavy my haul was this week! Holy crap! I am excited for the Grace Burrowes book! Thanks to you I am totally sucked in to historical romance now!
Going to school on the weekends kind of kills my soul every time I have to do it. Its just plain wrong!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I saw that you didn’t love Three Little Works by AJ Pine. I’m sorry to hear that because I still haven’t started reading my copy yet. lol! That’s a bummer. The blurb sounded so good…okay who am I kidding, the cover drew me in. lol! Hope you have a great week!

    • It wasn’t that I didn’t love it. I guess I was just underwhelmed. I didn’t think it was as amazing as some of the other books I have read recently. It was good, just not great or amazing!

  3. Well now I’m GREEN with envy! I always feel a bit winded when I get declined by Netgalley and it’s always for a book I REALLY want – but no one has ever then turned up with a widget to download it. Still… I reckon you’ve earned it by working on Saturday, making it a 6-day week. Hope this coming week is a good one.

    • Yes, I was thrilled when I got the publisher email! And you know what, perhaps it was my reward for my 3rd week of 6 day work weeks! I certainly have earned some kind of prize for that!
      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I think that’s great the publisher came through! So there Netgalley lol. And glad your presentation went well. I imagine teachers are a tough crowd. 🙂 That would suck having to work on the weekend. We just had a huge marching band invitational at our school yesterday and it was exhausting to be there all day (I’m not a teacher, I just volunteered) but it was fun.

Hope you have a great week ahead.

    • I used to do marching band in HS and loved it! But those things are certainly all day (and into the night!) events so kudos to you! Teachers can be very tough! We are often very critical of each other. Its kind of sad really.
      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Oh Preppy….GAH! I might go crazy waiting though!!! Her books always have the most insane cliffhangers that make me want the next book NOW! I can totally see why some people wait until the next book is out before reading.

  5. I’m glad things are ok with your coworker now 🙂 And hey, at least you got some reading done during the ACT testing!

Lol about the NetGalley book. I guess sometimes mistakes are made, or who knows. At least you got it eventually! Have a great week 🙂

  6. I’m so sorry NetGalley stressed you out; all that unnecessary stress and sadness for no reason – BOOOOO!!! I know for a fact that they do accidentally push the wrong button and decline people on accident. Does that help, too?? I think it’s almost better to get the widget though!! I don’t get those!!!!

Great job on your presentation!!! I love your attitude!

  7. I am so glad to hear that things settled with your co-worker. I know that can make work really uncomfortable. Also, yay for no more weekends! I have been working one weekend day for over a year now and it does suck to be at work when everyone else is out enjoying life. Have a great week!

  8. Glad to hear the presentation went well. And that the the co-worker issue has blown over. I’m with you… hate conflict! And confrontation. Ugh.
Glad the publisher came through with the book! Guess the decline was just in error? Either way, hooray for getting the book you wanted!
