How is it the middle of July? Where did my summer go? I’m going to miss hanging with my dogs when I have to go back to work. I got an email from work indicating I have been given a mentee. I’m very excited about this. One thing I loved about teaching was working with preservice and new teachers. I love that I can continue to do so in my new role as psychologist. I don’t know who my mentee will be yet.
My husband started his new job (at the same company) and he no longer has a work vehicle anymore. We only have 1 working car. He has a motorcycle but the obvious weather limitations are always a concern. He drove his bike to work on Friday and it died. So, I spent Friday waiting for AAA to come tow it. Spoiler alert-if you are sitting somewhere in a car, people are suspicious. So, I kept having to drive around occasionally. Of course, it was out in the middle of nowhere, so there wasn’t a close coffee shop or fast food place to go sit at. There wasn’t even a gas station within 15-20 minutes. We have my old Scion still, but it hasn’t run in years (because we never used it; when I first got the new car, we kept the Scion so we would have a back up car, in case my husband needed it. Well, its been sitting in the drive for 4 years. So, the tires are flat, and it is going to need some work and a lot of clean up, but mechanically it is still good. He hooked it up to the battery charger for a bit and it started right up.
Sadly, repairs are costly, and since everything else (electricity, food, gas, etc) is all also crazy expensive, we aren’t sure how we are going to swing it. As it is, I have missed a few payments on my student loans because there was too much month at the end of the money. Sigh.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you find some solutions with the motorcycle or old car. Is carpooling a possibility or could one of you drive the other to the point where you could rideshare /bus or something? The summer HEAT can’t go fast enough for me. July and August are always HOT but it is record-breaking this year.
Sorry to hear about your transportation misfortunes. I hope you can figure out something that doesn’t bust your budget. Do you have a pension? Can you take a loan on it? I did that when I was teaching. Paid off all my bills and repayment was not bad.
I really hope you figure something out for your transportation problems and that it doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg !
I hope that things works out in the car area. We have the same issue when hubby leaves for his weekend job me and the son have to agree when each other need the car. Hope you have good week.
Good luck with the mentee! I can relate to your money/car problems. My job has cars, but I can’t afford a personal car. It’s stressful.
How cool to be a mentor! I think it’s great to be able to have a hand in helping someone in their journey. I hope you find a viable option for the car issue.
