We got the sod cut for the pool. We almost died because my husband and I are too old for this shit, but its done! Today we are planning to put down the padding and pavers. Monday-the pool!!! I can’t wait. It is suppose to be HOT here this week (90’s) so it will be a welcome distraction.

I’m excited about the Olympics! I have always loved the Olympics. I’m a huge gymnastics fan so I am most pumped about that. I hope that they don’t have any outbreaks of COVID. I can’t imagine working your whole life to reach this pinnacle and then getting COVID.

I only have 2 more weeks of summer before it’s back to work for me. I’m crying. I’m not ready. Sigh.

Thursday I meet a couple of friends for a day at the zoo. One friend had her twin 2 year olds and let me tell you-we needed all 3 of us to handle 2 toddlers at the zoo. Exhausting!! But, we had fun and so did the kids.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Yay enjoy your pool and these final hot lazy days of summer. I am watching the Olympics and worried I won’t be reading so much because I’ll be watching. I recorded to DVD the entire 2008 Bejing Olympics and watched all 38 DVDs. I’ve missed too much the last few Olympics with not having cable or figuring out streaming. I loved it when I had an antenna on top of the house to watch broadcast tv. I’m using Peacock and Locast to stream it.

  2. Good luck with your pool! Sounds like you need it with the heat. Yes, two 2yr olds are a lot to handle! Glad to hear you had fun.

I’m looking forward to Claimed and Say Goodbye too!

  3. I felt just like that guy when I got my “invitation” to return to work. I relate hard to this. I am glad the pool didn’t kid you, and hope you both get a lot of enjoyment from it. I can’t believe you go back to school in two weeks. Seems like the year just ended.

  4. I was watching the gymnastic portion last night and enjoyed it so much. Yeah, there were a few hiccups but those ladies are so amazing! Hooray for progress on the pool! And just in time for the hot weather, too. Poolside reading += heaven!

  5. Oh my word! What a marathon job to get a pool dug out… It’s always a surprise to find how far adrift our school holidays are – our children only broke up this week. I hope you get a chance to really relax in the coming week:).

  6. Omg I can only imagine 2 toddlers at the zoo – I’ve done a group of 5/6 year olds when I taught Kinder and that was exhausting, but they were much older.

Yay for the pool! I hope y’all get it finished in time to enjoy it a bit before you have to go back to work. Summer is flying by!
