Non-Bookish News:

My surgery was Thursday and so far, I’m doing pretty well. There isn’t a whole lot of pain so I have been making due with Advil instead of the heavy duty pain killers they give you. My husband has been great at cleaning the stitches and such. The left side of my face is pretty sore. Chewing is kind of a pain. However, now is the time my anxiety kicks in. Because my ear is filled with packing, it sounds like I’m under water when I talk. My anxiety has me convinced that it will be this way for the rest of my life. Forget giving narcotic pain relievers, give me Xanax so I don’t spend the next 3 weeks freaking out. And yes, the packing has to stay in for 3 weeks!!!! Ugh.

So, they had some surgical tape or something over my eyes to keep my eyes closed during surgery. No big deal, but when I woke up, I could fill my eyelid sticking to itself occasionally. So, I used an alcohol wipe to try and get the sticky off. No luck. I used a little bit of my face wash. No luck. I used another alcohol wipe. Nope.  I used warm, slightly soapy water. Nope. Seriously, what the hell is in that tape!!??

Earlier in the week, before my surgery, I had lunch with some friends and it was great. I got to finally meet my friends adorable twins. They were only 6 weeks old and everyone in the restaurant had to stop and coo at them. They are too stinking cute!

I’m still pretty much in recovery mode this week, so lots of staying home, resting, and recovering. Hopefully I can get some reading in too. Right now, I just do a lot of napping….

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Glad the surgery went well, hope your recovery is quick and as hassle- free as possible! That tape does sound like it was crazy strong! And hope the packing doesn’t bother you too much!!

    I love that cover for Her Deadly Secrets!

  2. AWW! I am sure that everything will work out. I am glad that the surgery went well for you. The recovery of surgery is the WORST!! But keep up the relaxing and rest, you deserve it. Prayers and love your way!

  3. Recovery doesn’t sound fun, but at least the surgery is done. Hope you get to 100% again soon! 🙂

    Glad we both enjoyed Justified! I’ll have to check out Jay Crownover’s audio. I’m dying for a new Linda Howard but I don’t want to request it from Edelweiss until I have other ARCs cleared out. Edelweiss is so hit and miss for me. :/

  4. That’s great that you’re not experiencing a lot of pain. But lousy that the packing has to stay in for 3 weeks! Is it the kind that can’t get wet? It’d be pretty inconvenient to not be able to take a shower! And that tape sounds like Super Tape or something. Geez! Hope you at least feel up to reading… that should be a distraction.

  5. Nope. Recovery doesn’t sound like fun at all. I say knock me out and wake me up in three weeks. Glad the hubby is helping. I don’t even want to know what the bathing situation is like. i mean can you get your head/hair wet? I hope you can at least read. I am so sorry. {{hugs}}

    • Ugh so I can’t get my ear wet and I have to avoid getting the stitches too wet because they will dissolve. So, I could take a bath, but not really wash my hair. My husband managed to wash it a bit by pouring cups of water over my hair while I blocked the ear and stitches. Not easy (and also very messy! Water everywhere)

  6. I am so glad you’re doing okay after surgery. But, I’m so sorry your anxiety has been kicking in. I relate to that 100% and find my mind works in similar ways. I hope you feel better as the week goes and I’m definitely sending you all kinds of support and positive energy.
