This Week’s Book Haul:
Non-Bookish News:
Tuesday the dogs had their annual vet appointment for shots and general welfare check. Both are fine but Calleigh has cracked a tooth. For dogs, that isn’t as terrible as it would be for human but its something we have to keep an eye on. She is a heavy chewer so we can’t give her rawhide any more. She is not happy about this change. She is also a bit overweight. Since she turned 9 this week, we need to try to slim her down so the weight doesn’t cause hip problems. So, no more snacks. Like I said, she is not happy about any of this. In rebellion, she got up on the counter and stole an entire loaf of bread. Yoda is in great health. The vet said his weight is perfect, his teeth look good, and for a 12 year old dog, he is very mobile. Yoda celebrated by taking a break. He likes laying on the floors because they are cooler. Cal and I went outside to play fetch.
As I mentioned last week, money is super tight. $250 at the vet didn’t help matters. I have cut out all our ‘extras’. No more netflix, no more kindle unlimited, no more audible. I don’t think that will be enough, but I’m out of things to cut at this point. I already know some bills will be underpaid this month. Hopefully things will get back on track soon.
I have been binging ER. I remember watching it when it first came out, but I know I never finished the series. Its been fun to dive back in from episode 1! So many great actors before they were famous.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
I was such a huge ER fan. I watched it from the beginning to the very end. I still cry when I hear that ukulele version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
I’m only on season 7 now. So many tears!!!!! Gah! Poor Lucy Knight! And Doug leaving! And Mark’s father! Gah!
Great recap you have here. SO MANY great book releases we have coming out. I am planning on buying Wild Like The Wind, Duke By Default, and The Highland Chieftain.
The Highland Chieftain was good! My review will be up tomorrow!
OK your story about Calleigh had me cracking up! I can just imagine her being grumpy and stealing bread – LOL!! She is so sassy! I love it!
I’m sorry to hear that finances are a little tough. I’m crossing my fingers for your family.
Calleigh is such a ham! I always tell people its a good thing she is cute because she is a brat! No one believes me though because she is so well behaved in public! Thanks for the well wishes. My bank account appreciates all the good luck it can get!
My dog is 12 and overweight. He is a picky eater too so that is strange. I guess it’s an age thing. Happy Birthday to Cal. Your pooches are so pretty:) Wow. So many new books to check out. This summer has had so many good ones. My book budget is straining. LOL I’m tightening my belt too. I gave up a few things to try to catch up on bills also. I hope things turn around for you soon.
Thanks-I adore my dogs! My book budget is nil right now. I just get too look at all the pretties and add them to my wish list!
Great to hear your pups are doing well. Vet visits are always expensive, be thankful you don’t live in CA. Just to visit the vet and get my pets yearly shots, for one dog, is $320-$350. That has been the hardest thing to adjust to is how EXPENSIVE everything is in CA. Oooo I have to hope over to NetGalley and see if they have Drakon Unchained. I’ve read the others and enjoyed. Have been looking forward to more in the series. I hope you enjoy all new books.
Have a great week and happy reading!
I had a friend who lived in Cali for a few years and she was blown away at how costly everything was! Yes, the newest NJ Walter’s book just went up. I can’t wait to read it!
I’m glad the dogs are doing well. My dog has broken teeth from chewing, too. They haven’t caused any problems for her. I hope the money problems get sorted out soon. Being broke all the time is exhausting. Have a good week!
We are hopeful it won’t cause any issues for Calleigh! The vet said it isn’t a big deal unless it gets infected in the root.
Awe sorry about your doggie’s toofie. My cat Frida broke her front canine and she wasn’t feeling good after that, but she is better now. I think she had a fight with our other cat (this was over a year ago).
Sorry about the tight finances, hoping it gets better for you soon.
Aw poor Calleigh. I can’t believe how expensive it is to go to the vet now. Yeesh! And oh my gosh that’s hilarious about the bread! I mean you probably weren’t happy lol but she clearly was not going to go quietly into no- snack mode *snort*
Our little Chihuahua has stopped eating the dry dog food, so now we are having to but the soft canned food. But we still have 3 other dogs who eat the dry food. I think her little teeth can’t chew it anymore. She turns 7 this month. We are cutting bills left and right trying to get on a better financial plan. It isn’t working out so well t our house. We have lots of little bills that are probably necessary. So, well see how it all works out.
