Non-Bookish News:

I’m glad October is over. It’s a very busy time at work, and honestly, things haven’t been so good. My teammates and I are so downtrodden at the way administration has treated us. At least one of us cries each day, and if its not me, then I end up crying too because as their department head, I feel responsible for them. I hate to see us all so unhappy. If you know teachers at all, you know we are bleeding hearts. I adore my students and I get a little mamma bear like when I feel they aren’t getting everything they deserve. Having to be at work on the weekends throughout October just made things more stressful. I’m hopeful that November will bring a reprieve and a chance for my teammates and I to gather our strength and persevere.

I didn’t get a lot of reading done in October (again, see paragraph above) so I am hoping to catch up in October.

October 1st in SW Ohio the temperature reached 96 degrees. October 31st the temperature was 32 degrees. We went from Summer to Winter in the span of 31 days. Oh, Ohio, you are crazy.

I’m binging Fear thy Neighbor on Investigation Discovery. Y’all, these people are bat crap crazy!!!! I cannot imagine the terror of having these types of issues with your neighbor. Seriously-this show is bananas. It’s also kind of terrifying to see that some of these people get away with killing a neighbor because of Castle Doctrine (I am never living in Florida).

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Here’s hoping for a less stressful November. Having a crazy neighbor is a nightmare, but I don’t know how you can kill your neighbor and get away with it because of some law. Yeah, I think I’ll pass on Florida too!

  2. Sam@wlabb

Sorry to hear work is taking its toll on you. One of the reasons I left teaching was due to lack of support from the administration. Hang in there and ((HUGS)).

  3. Sorry to hear you’ve been stressed out with work and the administration is doing nothing to relieve the pressure on you and your team. I can’t say work has ever gotten so bad it’s led to me crying so I know it must be tough. Hopefully, November is a better month for all of you and it was the stress of so much work In October getting you all down.

  4. It seemed to me like you read a lot in October. I don’t think it is just Ohio that went from summer to winter in a couple weeks. We also were 90s and now 40s predicted later this week with 20s at night! I hope November is more relaxed and you can enjoy the holidays over the next months Happy reading!

  5. I am so sorry to hear that October was such a very tough month and very much hope that November is easier. It’s horrible when work is piled upon you like that… And it can’t help when the weather behaves like that, either! How can you possible adjust to such a temperature swing?? Take care, Samantha:)

  6. Samantha a teacher’s life can be so hard! I really hope November will treat you better! In the meantime I hope you enjoyed The Bromance book Club!

  7. Castle Doctrine is kinda scary. I’d be afraid to have neighbors like that too. Sorry to hear about the administration- that’s really unfortunate. I hope things get better…

Same here on the weather. We had snow flurries on Halloween- crazy.

  8. Sorry to hear about the work woes. I hope November is a better month and you get plenty of time for yourself and reading.

I’ve never heard of Castle Doctrine but googled it… We have something similar in England and Wales but, unlike in the US, we can only use force in self-defence and it needs to be somewhat proportional/justifiable to the level of threat.
