This Week’s Book Haul:
Non-Bookish News:
What an exhausting week!! Now that we are getting closer to summer vacation, the kids (and the teachers) are getting crazy! Kids who have never been a problem in the past are suddenly acting out and teachers are just throwing in the towel! Its exhausting. And we still have 6 weeks left (plus exams!). Moral of the story-hug the teachers in your life; chances are, they are having a ROUGH go of things.
I also agreed to chaperone the mission trip to Jamaica in June! I’m very excited (it will be the 2nd time I have taken students out of the country). However, the expense is kind of daunting. My flight and room are covered by the school, but I had to renew my passport, invest in a HECK of a lot of sunblock, bug spray, food, etc. So, I’m kind of freaking out about that. I started a gofundme to help get the money I need. I’m really excited about the trip though-its a great opportunity to provide support to a Franciscan mission in Negril. They have a soup kitchen and help provide food and supplies to the local school children. They also help out with families who need home repairs or other assistance. If you want more info about where we are going, you can read my GoFundMe 🙂
The weather got nice by Friday! It was almost 80 degrees and sunny! Of course Monday they are calling for flurries…My allergies are certainly feeling the spring! My nose is stuffy, my eyes are watery, and my voice sounds like I smoke 4 packs a day. Ah, spring.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
What’s going on with those kids??? There’s still some time to the summer! They need to get it together lol! A mission trip to Jamaica sounds very rewarding! I hope you’ll have an awesome time when you go!
I started the MacLean but can’t get into it, so I’ll have to come back to it!
Happy reading!
I so feel you on school! My kids are actually doing GREAT *knock on wood* but behavior school wide is rough. First grade has clearly thrown in the towel — and they weren’t great at behavior management in the first place — so it’s really rough over there. Which makes it hard for all of us, as we have to co-exist in their space.
Good luck getting funds for your Jamaica trip, sounds exciting and really rewarding! Have a great week – hopefully the kids (and teachers) do better this week 🙂
We have more school left than you before summer starts at the very end of June… so the kids here won’t get crazy for a few more weeks 😀
How exciting that you’re going on the mission trip to Jamaica! I’m sure it’ll be a great success.
Enjoy your new books and the rest of the weekend.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂
It takes up 15 minutes to leave the play ground after school because my daughter needs to hug all her teachers! lol
A trip to Jamaica sounds amazing! I hope you are able to go.
Enjoy all your new books and Happy Reading! 🙂
My family and I went to Jamaica when I was young. It was an amazing experience. I can only imagine the wonderful experience you will have by going to help out at the mission.
Oh man I am sure everyone is getting nutty this close to summer. Oh wow that sounds like a really good trip for you and the students. Great location and good purpose too. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!
Your mission trip to Jamaica sounds exciting. I’ve always wanted to visit there. After our rain storm moved through it got a bit chilly but should bounce back to around 80 by mid week. And I know what ou mean about the pollen. My eyes are driving me nuts! LOL Hang in there with the kids. It will be summer break before you know it:)
Ah, the end of school year is a crazy time. How exciting about your trip and what a great cause. I really hope this week is a less hectic one!
I admire teachers… I don’t know how you all do it. I’d go nuts.
I hope you enjoy your trip (when the time comes) and have a great week!
I remember the end of the year being complete insanity. June was my own special kind of punishment. Jamaica, how exciting! That is really awesome that you are going on a mission trip.
Ah yes, the end of the year crazies. I hope you and the other teachers the best. Jamaica, how exciting! I hope you have fun. You got some great ARC’s this week. I picked up these freebie eBooks: Rebel Cowboy, Sinful Intent, The Montana Bride & Witched At Birth and bought Psychic’s Spell. Have a great week and happy reading!
Oh boy, I do *not* envy teachers this time of year. It’s gotta be rough. The mission trip sounds great. My nephew actually just got back from a mission trio to Jamaica a couple weeks ago. (He came back with some kind of intestinal parasite so, uh… be careful. LOL) I can’t believe it’s going from 80’s to snowing. What a crazy spring!
It’s the Summer itch causing all the craziness with the kids! They know school is almost over. Your trip sounds amazing! Have a great week.
Ah the end of the school year approacheth, and the kids get unruly! I’m not surprised! And yay for the mission trip! Hope it goes well. Oh and get this- they just called school off for tomorrow here due to icy conditions. the parking lots are too slick. We had sleet all night last night and on and off freezing rain today. Lovely spring, no?
Have a super week 🙂
How exciting about your mission trip! Hope you have a fantastic time and it’s really impactful for you and your students. And I hope that the remainder of the year goes smoothly!
