So, normally, I don’t do reading challenges. I tried in the past, then took a few years off. But, this year I have decided to join a few-mostly ones that are straight forward and fit in to my reading style/genre/etc.
First, I always set a goodreads goal. This year, I set it at 100 again! However, if it gets to a point where it tells me I am behind, I will lower it because I don’t need that kind of negative energy.
Next, I have decided to join the audiobook challenge! I enjoy audiobooks and I binged the In Death series last year. I’m hoping to find another series like that! So, I am setting my audiobook goal at “Binge Listener” (25 audiobooks). Check out the Caffeinated Reviewer to get all the details!
Next, I am doing my own personal Netgalley challenge. I want to review more netgalley books than I add each month! I’m starting the year off with 86 books on my NG shelf. Hopefully that number will go down each month!
I’m joining the monthly Reading Challenge: Romance Books, hosted by Never Enough Novels! There is a prompt for each month.
I am doing GR (of course) and that romance one too. I have a bunch of others, but the romance challenge is new to me. Good luck!
I am normally like you, don’t do any challenges and keep my reading pretty chill but strangely I wanted to join some reading challenges for 2022. I am doing the Beat the Backlist challenge and a couple of monthly ones where there are prompts for each month. Nothing overly challenging but still should help me clear the shelves. Good luck with your netgalley challenge, I know I want to try and reduce down my unread figures there but I just couldn’t see a challenge which I thought would work for me. That’s just one I have in my head to tackle I suppose.
I’ve had a similar back and forth with my reading challenges. This year I joined quite a few, BUT I’m really keeping my goals light. It’s more to track how much I read in those categories and maybe be a bit more mindful in my choices. Good luck with your reading challenges!
Goodreads is the only challenge I do. Like you, I set my goal at 100 which is probably doable. But I don’t sweat it if I don’t meet it.
I also lower my GR Challenge if it keeps saying how many books I’m behind! I went for 80 last year but was nowhere near, so lowered it to 55 🙂
Now I’m going with 55 again!
