I'm used to going for the easy things in life. The easy A in school. The easy lay in bed. The easy life my trust fund affords me.Until I met Shelby.Never in my life have I found retro T-shirts and ChapStick so damn sexy. She's exactly what I never knew I wanted. And she's *anything* but easy. But suddenly, easy is overrated.
Only one damn problem... For Shelby, *hating me* is easy.
For the first time in my life, I have to work for something. And thoughshe may not be easy...she'll be worth it.

Blind Spot
Katana Collins

Blind Spot kind of grabbed my attention for a few reasons. First, the cover is interesting and I love the color. Second, I like the popular, rich guy/nerdy, broke girl trope. I am a sucker for it every time. Shelby, as you find out in the 1st chapter, has a sad past that has caused her to be mistrustful and scared.

There is a bit of insta-lust here. Tate wants Shelby and during their second interaction, he puts the moves on her and she walks away. How does he handle it? He drinks himself stupid. This is the kind of thing that makes me crazy about NA romance. She didn’t do anything other than walk away to her friends. She wasn’t mean or anything. If he really felt that strongly about her, why give up so easily? And why turn to tequila because one girl turns you down? This stereotypical NA behavior really makes me nuts because its so ridiculous. So, initially, Tate comes off a douche-y. I almost gave up because it was such a cliche but I’m glad I stuck with it.

I liked Shelby. She is dealing with the loss of her mother, trying to get through her senior year of college, dealing with the abuse in her past, and worrying about her friends. I couldn’t really see what she saw in Tate at first. He does eventually come around and I did appreciate how dedicated he was to winning Shelby’s heart. His friends were still douche bags though. He needs new friends, for sure! The climax near the end revolves around a miscommunication trope which is probably my least favorite and most frustrating. But, it is resolved fairly quickly.

Blind Spot is a great read if you love college settings and damaged characters with baggage! I will admit that this one started off bad for me, but once I got into it, I devoured it in a day!

The Hashtag Series (the BEST nerdy girl/popular guy series!), Out of Bounds by RS Grey (typical NA drama), Idol by Kristen Callihan (famous guy/average girl)…then you will probably like Blind Spot!

From Blind Spot:

Pinching my chin, he matched my stare, and for all of a second, we did nothing but look at each other. Hold each other. His eyes were savagely hot, and the way he searched my face and brushed his thumb over my swollen, wet bottom lip was achingly tender, like I was something to be cherished.

Gently, he freed my hair from my ponytail, brushing his fingers through the strands. His eyes explored my face, and he traced the muscles up and down my back. “You are so beautiful,” he murmured, more to himself than to me.

My breath expanded in my lungs, my muscles clenching with his declaration. For the first time with anyone, I honestly believed him when he said it. It wasn’t a way of getting in my pants, or some phrase he was repeating from a movie. But even more important? The way Tate looked at me, I felt beautiful.

About Katana Collins

Katana Collins is lucky enough to love her day job almost as much as she loves writing. She splits her time evenly between photographing boudoir and newborn portraits and writing steamy romances in a variety of genres -- paranormal, contemporary, new adult and suspense.

She bounces between living in New York and Portland, Maine, with an ever-growing brood of rescue animals: a kind of mean cat, a very mellow chihuahua, and a very not mellow lab puppy... oh yeah, there's a husband somewhere in that mix, too. She can usually be found hunched over her laptop in a cafe, guzzling gallons of coffee, and wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.
