Reading Challenges for 2023

Posted December 29, 2022 in review Tags:

I mostly skipped reading challenges last year. I just typically don’t do well with them. But, I’m hoping to give a select few a try again this year.

COYER 2023: Upside Down

Here are the basics from Because Reading:

“COYER – Clean Out Your E-Reads – was initially about reading free (or nearly free) e-books and writing reviews for them. Later we added in Summer Vacation where format and price didn’t matter. Along the way we added in all sorts of extra twists and challenges just to keep it fun. You’re going to get a bit of that this year, but we’re jumbling it up and flipping it upside down so that when we get to COYER’s ACTUAL birthday we’ll be doing it like we started, with the strict rules. We’ve divided the year into 3 Chapters (instead of seasons). As always you can participate all year, part of the year, or not at all and just participate in COYER Community. At the end of each Chapter, reviews entered in the review linky will be eligible for a $5 gift card to Amazon or Barnes & Noble.”

Chapter 1: It’s a Cold Summer

Essentially you can read any format, any price book (including borrows from KU).  The sheer lack of rules here works in my favor to ease me back in. I have also been really loving KU lately, so this is good for me. Also, it will help me be better about reviews books on the blog that I didn’t get from a publisher, since that seems to be all I review on here.

Chapter 2: Get On Board

This one is board game based. The cheaper the book, the more spaces you move on the board. More info on this one closer to the start date.

Chapter 3: The Beginning

The final chapter is classic COYER. Books have to be free or nearly free and digital (ebook or audio).

Romanceopoly

This one didn’t work out great for me previously, but I really WANT to try it. So, I’m gonna give it a go again. You can get all the details HERE.

Sweatpants and Spice Challenge

This is from The Shelfie Chronicles on Etsy. I’m pretty excited about this one. There are all kinds of categories and it’s all romance related, so I should be able to feel pretty accomplished. They also have the Read Your Shelf challenge with lots of different prompts. I think these will fit in well with both my other challenges, and help me use my planner more because the sticker kits are great!
