This Week’s Book Haul:
Non-Bookish News:
Prayers to all those in California affected by the fires. Those pictures are terrifying. I think wildfires are the scariest natural disaster. Fire freaks me out! And the pictures I have seen online look like something out of a post apocalyptic movie not real life. I hope any of you in Cali are safe and away from the fires. I am also heartbroken to think of the wild animals that will be killed due to these fires. How terrifying it must be for an animal to be exposed to a fire like that? I’m scared as a person who has the ability to process the information-I can’t imagine being a scared animal with nowhere to run.
On to something cheerful because thinking about the fires makes me sad. Doesn’t that Christmosa look good?!
This was a pretty normal week. Work was a bit stressful but it gets a little crazy this time of year. Everyone is stressed due to the holidays and there is a state testing window for students who need to retake tests due to a previous non passing score. Its kind of a stressful place to be but we persevere! Plus we had an inservice on Friday. Those days always tend to make me and my coworkers stressed and irritable. Thankfully we had the weekend to recover from the stress.
Earlier in the week they were calling for snow on Saturday. As we got closer to Saturday, the amount decreased, and then by Friday there was no snow expected at all. However, we did get a dusting at least. Last year we had no snow. If I don’t get some snow this year, I will cry!!! But, Calleigh and Yoda enjoyed the dusting of snow. They love snow as much as me!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

We got a little snow, too, but right now, it’s all melting away. I just keep my fingers crossed it won’t freeze over tonight, because I don’t want slippery roads on my way to work tomorrow.
The end of the year is fairly stressful at my school, too. My 3rd year students have their exams starting tomorrow, so I’ll have less teaching time. But more grading time 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Squeeee! Your pup is so cute! December IS complete insanity at school. I remember the kids were all keyed up for the long break, but then, like you said, you had that sub-group, who needed to stay focused. Hang in there! At least you can imagine all the R&R you will be getting once break starts.
Yeah those wild fires are terrifying. Mother Nature is brutal lately. It’s sad to think that so many will lose their homes due to them, since they are mostly uncontrollable. We had our first snow and I was excited as your pup! 🙂 Look at that cute face. Sorry to hear about the work-related stress. When do you get a long break the holidays? Hope it’s coming up soon!
Those images on Facebook of the fires are so scary. I hope the weather changes for them and the fires go out.
We got a lot of snow yesterday and it am hoping most of it melts.
Sorry your week was stressful but it’s almost christmas vacation! 🙂
I hope you have an awesome week, Samantha! Happy Reading! ox
I saw a video of someone driving down the highway next to one of the wildfires and it looked like the apocalypse or something—I literally went and looked to find out if it was real (it was!). So scary!
The fires out if CA are just awful, I can’t imagine what the people are going through. My heart goes out to them. If you want I can send some of our snow, we have plenty to spare. Try 9 inches I could spare. Ugh… Most of it will hopefully melt today…. This whole week my son has had testing and is glad it is over, so I am sure you as a teacher you are too. Love the book haul. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. 🙂
Nice snowfall. If Xoxperts ask for blogger recs I will share your name and email 🙂
Oh my gosh that Text Talk is awesome. You get the award for best find of the week. 🙂 The Luke Skywalker one cracked me up too! I needed a good laugh!
So true about the wildfires though, it’s just crazy how bad they are!
Glad you didn’t get too much snow, we got a bit. Looks like the dogs loved what you did get though!
Cute dog. I’m glad you got some snow. We could use more here. It snows at night and then melts in the morning.
Those wild fires are really scary. I hope everyone made it out of the fires alright.
Sorry the snow missed you – I’m always up for the white stuff before Christmas. Your pup looks like he’s having a blast with the dusting through. ::)
Have a great week, Samantha!
We got a little snow this weekend! It’s very unusual and my dog loved it. Had to drag him in so I could go to bed. LOL
The fires are so devastating. Breaks my heart for all of those people and animals.
The Christmosa does look yummy! I’ve got to try one.
Oh I hear ya about fires…they FREAK me out so badly. And its so sad to hear about the animal cases, especially all the horses (I adore horses) I am hoping that we get snow soon too. I have really been curious about the Kate Meader’s books. I do love hockey but haven’t read too many hockey romances yet. Need to change that.
The pictures I’ve seen of the fires do look like an apocalypse. It’s crazy.
Your light dusting of snow looks pretty though 🙂 And hopefully you’ll get the real snow you want! Meanwhile I’m freezing in the 50 degree weather and just want the hot weather back lol.
I hate snow so I’m glad we haven’t had much yet. I would love a winter with no snow! I hope you get to enjoy some more snow though 🙂
My mom was a teacher before she retired and there were definitely stressful times of the year for her. She hated testing time. Hope things get better for you this week.
I haven’t read any of the books on your list but I hope you enjoy them.
Sorry to hear ya’ll didn;t get snow! We got five inches and it was weird AF. We rarely get snow before January and it never happens BEFORE Christmas
Love the picture of the pup in the snow! Every dog I’ve had seems to either hate it or love it but either way the reaction is pretty entertaining! All the testing sounds so stressful and I imagine the retesting is even worse! Have a great week and enjoy your new books!
I’ve lived through one of those wildfires and yeah, they are pretty scary but the animals do get out of the way, for the most part. The saddest story is the one I heard about the Del Rey race track’s horses in Bonsall. That was sad but they saved hundreds more horses. My college roommate is a horse trainer near there and she’s working at the Del Mar race track where all the horses are staying until the fire is out. She’s amazing!!!
Now I want to know why you’re not more afraid of tornadoes, missy!!! 😀 Almost Christmas break!! And btw, that video up there is awesome!!
wildfires are terrifying indeed. Prying for all of them. :Oh I think I’m going to try that Christmosa this year! IT DOES LOOK GOOD! Hope the rest of your holidays are less stressful and you get slow down and enjoy a Christmosa !
I’ve actually never heard of Christmosa! But yes, it looks totally amazing 🙂
