Top Ten Tuesday: Debut Authors

toptentuesday

Welcome to another addition of Top Ten Tuesday! Want to see all the blogs participating? Head over to The Broke and The Bookish! This week’s topic was tricky for me! Debut authors whose sophomore book you are excited for! So, here goes (in no particular order!):

Katja Millay: Her book, Sea of Tranquility blew everyone away. I struggled to get into the book, but I am including it on my list since it seems that everyone else in the world loves this book!

Isabel Jordan: Okay, so I am kind of cheating a bit with this one since her sophomore book was just released but I am keeping her on my list! I love PNR and her Harper Hall series is one of my favorites. Part Buffy, part Supernatural and 100% enjoyable! Psychics, vampires, and more-what’s not to like? I might also stalk her online…hoping for a crumb of detail about upcoming books!

Stacy Kestwick: If you haven’t read Wet you are seriously missing out! This book quickly became one of my favorite reads this year. Romance, betrayal, and a serious fear of the ocean (which, by the way, is totally logical!) are the themes in this book that quickly stole my heart and had me stalking Stacy online to find out what happens next!

S.L. Ziegler: Want to have your heart ripped out? Want to have the WORST book hangover ever? Need an ugly cry book? Grab Fighting to Start. This book gutted me. Thankfully the follow up will release soon. Although, I am afraid to read it for fear it might crush me more! If someone wants to read it first, then tell me if they get an HEA I would be very grateful! And in case you are wondering, I stalk her too. I have been begging for hints about Fighting to Stay but she will NOT give in!

Sophia Henry: I fell in love with Delayed Penalty. Like, HARD. This book blew me away. It was so different from what I expected. The characters were so well written, the plot was moving without all the typical NA angst, and I could not put it down. Its one I have already reread. I cannot wait for more from Sophia! (I stalk her online too…).

Teiran Smith: This book snuck up on me. Teiran contacted me through the blog and offered me a copy of the book. Its a bit MC, a bit NA… frankly it was a bit of everything. I didn’t really like the characters. Like, I think Rooter is an ASS. But I could NOT put this book down. I can’t wait for y’all to read my review next week because this book was like a big bag of Halloween candy-you know you shouldn’t eat it, and you don’t even really LIKE all this candy, but you can’t stop and before you know it, the whole bag is gone. That was this book for me and I will down the next one in one sitting too (probably with a bag of candy!)

Scarlett Cole: The Strongest Steel was one of those books I told EVERYONE about. My husband, my mom, random strangers in line at the grocery…you get the picture. I was totally blown away by this book in the best possible way and there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t love about it! Seriously, I FLOVE this book and am dying for the rest of the series!

Candy Sloane: If you are looking for a laugh out loud book with some seriously HOT scenes, grab Reality O. This book had me laughing and fanning myself! This book is right up there with Pucked and Pucked Up-funny, hot, and just plain fun!

Sadie Munroe: All It Takes was a book I grabbed on a whim. A girl who has to clean up her mom’s hoarding mess after her mother passes away and hires a recently released ex-con to help her with the job. I wasn’t expecting much and I was so surprised. Sadie Munroe didn’t try to soften the blow of hoarding or make the mother out to be a more honorable person than she was. These characters stuck with me because they were so real. They were people you could know. It made the book stick with me for awhile!

Ava Dellaira: Love Letters to the Dead was a book I picked up on a random Amazon suggestion. Initially it grabbed me because I thought it would be a good book to share with my students. This book deals with some really deep feelings and the unique way Ava lets you know the characters is pretty cool. I am interested to see what she comes up with next!

So, did I miss your favorite debut authors? Which sophomore books are you dying to get your hands on? Which debut authors did you discover this year that you wish more people knew about? I am always looking for great new authors! Share in the comments! (I also love comments. Seriously, when y’all comment I get ridiculously happy. Not kidding!)
