We start off with a lie on Valentine’s Day.
My blind date isn’t the studious guy I expected: he’s a drop-dead gorgeous player with sinful amber eyes. Somehow we end up at his penthouse. I blame the gin and tonic.
The next day I learn he’s Jack Hawke—bad-boy professional quarterback with a murky past. The NDA he has me sign should be a warning that he isn’t a regular person. Please. I sign it Juliet Capulet, so goodbye, famous football player with abs of steel, and good luck tracking down this small-town librarian.
But Jack keeps showing up in places I least expect him. Just when I’m sure he’s gone, he waltzes into my community theater and wins the part of Romeo to my Juliet. How’s a plain, mostly innocent girl like me supposed to resist a man like him?
Is Jack my real Romeo… or will this gorgeous football player only break my heart?
Not My Romeo starts with a blind date mix up that I thought was just too cute. Jack loves the idea that someone doesn’t know him and so he plays along, pretending to be Elena’s date.
After that meet cute, Elena does learn his true identity, but Jack isn’t giving up. He ends up getting the part of Romeo to her Juliet in a local production of Romeo and Juliet. Adorable! These two are so different: Jack is a football bad boy with a string of women in his wake and Elena is a buttoned up librarian who has never been satisfied by a man. Her last boyfriend left her for her sister! Elena has some unique talents she totally embraces and I loved that about her. I loved that Jack was tenacious when it came to Elena and that he admitted he was out of his element but not willing to give up.
Overall, Not My Romeo is sweet and sexy so its perfect for a lighter weekend read! There is plenty of humor and both Elena and Jack are characters you will fall in love with. The secondary characters are great as well, and really make the town of Daisy come to life.
Also, I must mention the cover model for Not My Romeo. That face is chiseled! Stunning.

quirky small town romances like Until Talon by Aurora Rose Reynolds, Surrender by Rachel Van Dyken, Phoenix by Janie Crouch…then you will probably like Not My Romeo!
He is a very handsome cover model. One woman thought it looked straight out of the Great Gatsby times, and he does have that throwback look. I had a great time reading this book. It was fun and sweet. I was surprised she jumped ahead for the epilogue and am curious how that will effect the timeline of the other books. I hope they will be stories with heroes culled from Jack’s crew.
It’s a stunning cover! It’s on my TBR. 🙂 Great review Sam.
