This Week’s Book Haul:
Non-Bookish News:
It was crazy hot this week. And so humid! Thankfully I didn’t have to go outside much, and even the dogs didn’t want to stay out too long. My poor husband had to suffer through the miserable heat though. He manages a mechanic shop. I am hoping it cools off before I have to go back to work July 31st. Our school was built in the 1920s and we don’t have AC. August and September are usually miserable.
The basement is finally cleaned up. We haven’t begun any of the repair yet; we are still fighting with the clean up company about the price. But, at least the basement is clean and I can do laundry!
That was my week! I binge watched TV (Deadliest Catch), read some books, did some stuff around the house. Pretty much exactly what I want out of my summer vacation. This week have to start working on lesson plans for the summer test prep class I teach, but I am really just modifying the plans from last year. I have my bi-annual endocrinologist appointment as well.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
I am soooooo sorry…. I can’t imagine the HUMIDITY down there right now!!! We’re dying up here and it’s always 10x worse down there π And yep, my dog does not want to be outside either!!
Great book haul this week!! I LOVE all the books you grabbed. That one from Rachel Van Dyken looks good. I haven’t read one of hers lately so I might have to look into it π
Sorry about your basement. Hang in there, girl!!!
Its miserable. I love the Eagle Elite series from Rachel Van Dyken. Its my favorite of hers!!
I agree that its been hot and humid, but for some reason I am liking it. I am so weird I know, especially since I used to hate the heat. But now I love it. Looks like you have some great books here. I also received The Scot Beds His Wife and can’t wait to read it. I just admire this new author so much. Isn’t she just great?
Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
I hate the heat. Always have. I haven’t read anything by Kerrigan Bryne yet so I am excited to give it a shot!
YIKES! I’m glad I’m away from that heat. Summer is my least favorite season because it makes me so cranky and sweaty and I just feel gross and angry the whole time. I hope it starts cooling down for your sake! It doesn’t sound like fun at all.
I hope you enjoy all the new pretties!
Happy reading and have a great last week of summer break! π
Yeah I am a total witch when I get hot and sweaty. Not pretty!
Congrats on winning the book! Have a great week!
Thanks!
Our poor Doxie is our only dog that goes outside to potty and he hasn’t wanted to go out in the afternoon lately, it is just too hot. My husband loves Deadliest Catch! Enjoy all your new additions. Happy reading.
Jenea’s Book Obsession
Deadliest catch is so awesome! I love it!
Thanks for sharing those links π the heat, huh – we have barely had our first hot day yesterday. First! The weather has been so terrible here, just rain and cold and ugh.. Having to wear autumn clothes in July is just not okay.
Glad about the basement resolution π
Ugh I will send some of this awful heat your way! Its miserable.
I was a teacher for 12 years, and my school was built in 1952. I can totally relate to the misery the heat brings. I taught chem, and when it was hot and we had to do labs with bunsen burners, it was the worst. I will keep fingers crossed, that there is a break in this humidity just in time for you to go back to school.
It’s pretty hot where we are too and glad you got your basement cleaned out!
It’s been hot here too but not too bad. A little humid. Hope yours lessens a bit. And yeah the schools here are mostly not air conditioned either and it’s SO muggy in Aug and Sept. Glad you had a good week, hope this one is as well.
Cool links! Thanks for sharing those. π
OH man, no AC? Yikes! I have a couple trainings this week and I’m bringing a sweater, because the air will almost certainly freeze me out. But I’d prefer that to no air – especially while teaching a room full of kiddos :/ Best of luck with that. Sounds like you’ve had a decent break – mine still has a couple weeks and I plan to eek as much out of it as possible π Have a great week!
Try and stay cool! We’ve had some HOT days in CA. Our boy on those days has to sleep in our room which is the only one in the house with a window A/C. I miss A/C for the house. Living in CA takes some getting used too. Glad you had a nice relaxing week.
Hope your week is wonderful and happy reading!
Too bad your school starts so early. I hope it will have cooled off some for you by then. It’s been very hot where I live, too. Too bad your school doesn’t have A/C. I don’t know how people got along in places like the Midwest and the southern U.S. without it! I hope you have a great week!
Sorry about the hot weather, hon. But I choose hot weather over cold every day. I can’t survive if the weather is too cold. Anyway, yay, you got Rebel by Rebecca Yarros!!! so happy for you. I hope you enjoy it. Can’t wait for your reviews. Have a wonderful week.
Anyway, which ones of Cynthia Eden romantic suspense books are your most favorites? I’m so curious. π
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the shout out on your blog. You are an absolute sweetheart! <3 I really appreciate it!
The weather around here has been so crazy! One day it is SO HOT and humid and then the next it's pouring rain. I would like some sunshine in the forecast! It seems like all the hot days include rain lately too. I can't believe it's almost the end of July already…I'm not ready to start thinking about chilly weather yet. lol
Living in FL, it’s hard to imagine *any* building without AC. Hope the heatwave is over before you head back to school!
And hooray for having the basement cleaned up! Even if it’s not completed yet, just having it cleaned has to be a relief.
Glad you were able to enjoy the week doing exactly what you wanted. π
Yeah, when I lived in NC people couldn’t fathom a place without AC. Its just too hot. Most places in OH have AC but our school is so old it would be really expensive to retro fit the building for AC. So, we sweat it out.
It’s cooled down a bit here, thank goodness! Plus, we have AC, and we’re on vacation, so I guess there’s really no need to complain about the weather π
Three are so many cool new releases this week. I loved the ones I’ve already read.
You guys start school really early! I guess that means you also start the summer vacation early. We start up again on August 28th, but I will have to go to work on the 21st, as we have meetings during the week before the students arrive back.
enjoy the rest of your summer and happy reading Samantha! <3
Well, we don’t start until the 23rd or so but I teach a test prep class for the first 2 weeks of August. By the time that is over, we start teacher inservice time. But, the extra money is good!
Got the heat and humidity here too. Today was a bit cooler. Didn’t reach 90. I’m watching Shark Week. Lots of other new shark shows too. Also reading some shark books. LOL Enjoy those new reads and good to hear you can get to your laundry now.
