Non-Bookish News:

Well it has rained so much!! The Ohio River has been above flood stage for most of the week. Everything is just muddy. Its terrible! It is suppose to dry out this coming week at least. The river is suppose to crest on Tuesday so everyone is just kind of holding on until then. The rain is suppose to stop this morning. Thankfully we live higher up so nothing flooded, but the yard is so muddy and the dogs are tracking it everywhere! Our backyard has lots of standing water-its like little ponds all over! Yoda makes sure to run through each one when he goes out. He’s kind of an asshole (but we love him anyway!) The tornado sirens went off around midnight last night, which added to the chaos. The possible tornado was not near us thankfully!

I am giving weight watchers a shot. My endocrinologist wanted me to cut carbs but counting calories and carbs was overwhelming. The new WW gives lower carb food less points, so it kind of naturally helps me count carbs without having to. So far, I’m starving and cranky but thats typical for the first part of any diet!

It was a long week at work. This time of year starts to get busy-IEPs are due, ETRs need renewed, my seniors need help getting accommodations set up for college, its getting close to state testing, the ACT is coming up in March. Thankfully, we have spring break the first week of April to give us a little break.

I’m so behind on my reading! I am literally finishing a book the night before the review is due! I think part of it is how busy work has been. I’m too tired to read when I come home. But, I am afraid I might be getting a little bit of a slump forming. Hopefully it passes!!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. It has rained a lot here too. I am hoping it will stop by the afternoon but it’s just so wet and depressing. The kids are longing to run outside but it is so squishy they don’t even want too.
Need to find an endocrinologist for my son but I want to go to our new doctor first to see if she thinks he needs one. The meds he is on make his thyroid levels high but not to bad however it is still a concern. I hope WW works for you, my sister did amazing on it a long time ago and still follows it even today.

Have a great week, Samantha! Happy Reading!

  2. Good luck with all your paperwork. You have a lot on your plate. It has been raining a ton here too, but I am not close enough to a body of water for it to worry me. Fingers crossed the river stops rising. Best of luck with the diet. I have faith in you! Hang in there!

  3. We had our heavy rain last night and more win today, it’s brought in some cooler weather which I’m happy for. Hope all the flooding subsided soon for y’all. And good luck with Weight Watchers. Even with your busy upcoming week, I hope it is a good for you. Enjoy the new books too. ?

  4. Oh no hope the slump doesn’t develop! 🙂 I hate those! And man you do sound busy- hope you get a break soon. It rained here all night, sometimes heavily, and I heard there were a few flood warnings, but it sounds like you guys have it a lot worse. Hopefully it doesn’t get TOO bad…

Lol about your dog. What is it about animals that they delight in making a mess???

  5. I want to read Hello Stranger and Tangle of Need, and I live in PA and our OHio, Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers have all been very high and we have had alot of flooding in different parts of our city(Pittsburgh). Thankfully, we haven’t had any!! Good luck with Weight Watchers. I hope you have a good week, hang in there April isnt too far away!!

  6. I hope that the weather balances out and the rain stops. As much as I love the rain, it sure can be messy when you get too much of it. And good luck with WW program. I have used it before, and its different but I like it quite a bit but it does take a while to get used to it. How I would work it was try to do 5-6 small meals a day, its harder since I love to eat tons of food, but once I got used to it I liked not ever being hungry but then I was never full but after a few weeks I had more energy so keep up with it. and I lost like 30 pounds in those three weeks. So it does work, its just different from most diets.

  7. Oh I hope the rain stops and things dry up. We had a lot of rain this weekend and it was no fun. I think WW is great. I have used it very successfully in the past. Sounds busy at work. i hope it goes quick to your break. Have a great week and enjoy your new books!

  8. Their seams to be flooding in lots of places. My mom lives in Indiana, near Goshen, Elkhart area and they have been flooded. Schools closed and so on. I saw pictures and it was a shock. Growing up their I never saw it that bad. All the rain and melting snow. Hopeful things will dry out for you.
Oh no a book slump. Eh, those are no fun. When I hit one I do rereads of my favorites and then through in a new book or review book in-between. It helps sometimes. Hope you enjoy your new additions. Have a great week and happy reading!

  9. Funny that we had the same sentiments in our blog post titles. LOL. We have standing water in our backyard as well. It hasn’t rained today thank goodness, but it was still a gloomy day.

Sorry about the potential book slump, sometimes we have to reboot ourselves. Hope it passes soon.

    Have a great week!

  10. I always finish reading books right before they are due. Lol! I live like that and thrive on the pressure (or so I tell myself) I got my kids IEPs coming up. I know how busy it can be. I have been so crazy busy my head is spinning. Everything is important and nothing can get shuffled out of the schedule.
I watched that pet baths video just yesterday, thanks for sharing it. It was so funny. I hope you have a great week and happy reading!

  11. Surprisingly, we got some rain this week in Southern California. We don’t get a lot of rain so I wasn’t bothered by it. It’s still pretty cold as well so I’m just over here, waiting for it to warm up again. I’m not used to wearing socks all the time.

Good luck with Weight Watchers, Sam. I’m rooting for you!

I haven’ tread any of the books you read though I will be starting Hello Stranger sometime this week. I’m hearing great things about it.

I hope you’re having a great week so far and that you don’t fall into a reading slump!
