How is it the middle of November already?! That’s crazy. Thanksgiving is only a week and a half away!
We got the money for the equity on the house and have paid off all our bills. It was really fun! I know that sounds strange-fun paying bills-but watching all the balances go to zero and realizing I can delete them from our bill pay page on the bank website was exhilarating! We also got a new bed and new mattress, which I’m very excited about. I hate our mattress now. To be honest, I never liked it to begin with (Its a Purple mattress), so getting a new one is a big deal. Also, mattresses are so expensive. So, hopefully the one we picked is great!
Work was busy this week. Lots of meetings, lots of things that needed my attention. As we get close to Christmas, I am always busy because I am trying to cram everything in knowing we are going to have all these days off. In Ohio, the timeline for most evaluations is 60 calendar days; not 60 school days, but calendar days. So, those days we are off for Thanksgiving and Christmas count towards the 60 days I have to complete an evaluation. Its ridiculous.
I have actually been watching new TV shows this year. I love Brilliant Minds with Zachary Quinto, Dr. Odyssey with Joshua Jackson, and Matlock with Kathy Bates. All of them are top notch! Also, the Irrationalist is amazing as well (its in its 2nd season now). I haven’t watch a new show in YEARS, so this is actually a big deal for me.
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

Congratulations on paying those bills off! I remember how happy I was when I took a 401K and got rid of my credit card debt and have not carried a balance ever since. It’s a good feeling. It is amazing what a HUGE purchase a mattress is. I have a Temper-Pedic and it was like $1000 years ago. I cannot imagine how much it will cost now. I was eyeing #Fam. I loved the start of that series which took a weird turn (for me at least), but I am always up for a where-are-they-now. Glad to see you enjoyed it.
You’re the second person I’ve seen with A Proposal to Die For. The cover looks great. It makes me want to read it.
Yeah to a mattress! That’s on our wish list right now. I think paying off bills is fun and great. One less thing to worry about.
Happy you were able to consolidate your bills and get some breathing room! I’ll check out the new Matlock! Have a wonderful week!
I remember the last time I did that with my bills. I’m so mad that I’ve gotten myself in trouble again. But hope to do a personal loan through SoFi with a end date to have them all paid off by and then do my very best to not let it happen again. Take some real steps this time like budgeting! I ordered the special edition of #Nerd, so also can’t wait for #Fam! Hope you have a good week!
Congratulations on beating the bills! I despair of ever managing that.
I’ve watched a few episodes of Dr Odyssey, Brilliant Minds and Matlock are on my TBW
Wishing you a great reading week
So satisfying to pay off bills, isn’t it? I’m loving the new Matlock. Kathy Bates is one of my favorites. Looks like a nice book haul!
I’m glad things are working out for you. I’m sorry to hear Purple wasn’t good. We just got Sealy Posturepedic in July to replace Ikea ones and we have been happy with the change but yes, they are expensive. I got the Molly Harper and India Holton books too.
