ARC August Challenge 2019

Posted July 31, 2019 in Challenge Tags:

Ok, let me be honest with you, my readers. My netgalley backlist is….well, see for yourself.

Yep. I have 35 books that have been sitting on the shelf for longer than 3 months. Oh, but it gets worse. Wanna know how old the oldest book really is? Its been there since 2016.

So, first let me share the general rules of ARC August 2019, then I will explain my personal quest. Head over to Read.Sleep.Repeat to join in!

Do I have to be a blogger to participate?
Nope! As long as you have access to Advanced Reader Copies (bookselling, librarianship, won giveaways, etc.) you can join!

How long does the challenge last?
The challenge starts right on August 1st and ends August 31st. We are not particular on time zone so it starts whenever August starts/ends for you.

Do the ARCs have to be from this year?
No, you can read any ARC you’d like!

Do the books have to be physical ARCs?
They do not! Digital copies totally count as well!

What hastag should be used?

Ok, so here is the thing. I could blow this challenge out of the water by counting all the ARCs I have scheduled in August. Easy Peasey. But, I want this to be an actual accomplishment, so here is my goal

  •   Each week I will read one book from Netgalley or Edelweiss that is NOT on my review schedule and is past its publication date.
  •   My goal: 4 books. It may seem small, but this is in addition to everything I have scheduled in August plus I am a teacher and have to go back to work. So, yeah. 4.

Ok tell me: is your netgalley backlist bad or have I made you feel better about your account now that you have seen mine? Are you setting a goal for ARC August?

    • Oh my goodness someone who has more than me!! Thank goodness (for me-I don’t feel so alone)! I’m hoping 1 a week will make it attainable enough I won’t get overwhelmed and quit.

  1. Good luck! I am down to only 1 book aka ARC on NetGalley to read. I never over taxed myself with NetGalley, but I still ended up requesting books, getting them and then not reading them. I heard all the stories of ppl getting to many books and not reading, so I have always limited myself. This year has been a weird year for reading in that I haven’t been in the mood. Lots of life stuff happening.

    • I am the people you hear stories about! I’m out of control. I can’t stop checking every day to see if new books have been added. I have a problem!
