What if you can’t help but hurt the person you love?
Kat Cullen has it all—a staff writer position at the New York Times, beauty, independence—until she finds herself alone on the subway at night with a rapist. Saved by Alex Summer, a democratic candidate running for mayor of New York, she develops an unexpected friendship with him.
Alex’s chaotic past is the kind of juicy scoop every political reporter dreams of—which is why he keeps it hidden. But as he starts falling in love with Kat, he opens up to her about his darkest secrets. What he doesn’t know is that Kat already knows all about him, and she’s on an assignment to expose his history.
Caught between truth, love and ambition, two people must figure out the politics of the heart. Coming August 27th (available on Kindle Unlimited.)
In My Arms Tonight
Sasha Clinton
A political and a reporter walk into a bar…Just kidding! In My Arms Tonight is the story of a political hopeful with a dark past and the newspaper reporter sent to cover the election. Kat is a young reporter for the NYT who is trying to make sure she keeps her job during a time of cutbacks. Alex is running for mayor and Kat is assigned to cover the election. Kat is a strong willed woman with is very dedicated to her work. I struggled to like her though. Instead of seeming self confident, she came across as manipulative to me. Alex, however, is very likable! His backstory is really, really sad and you can’t help but feel compassion for him. It almost made me dislike Kat more for what she was doing to him.
Alex and Kat meet and begin a relationship, but she doesn’t tell him what she does for a living. Still fearing the NYT layoffs, she wants to get this behind the scenes story on the front runner in the mayoral race. I was not really happy with the decisions Kat made even when Alex was okay with them. I thought he forgave her so easily and I think (because of his past) he let her take advantage of him because he wanted her love. I think I wanted better for Alex, you know? I felt that Kat wasn’t good enough for him!
In My Arms Tonight is well written and I think Clinton has a good writing style. While I may not have liked Kat, Clinton was able to make me FEEL and thats so important in a story.
