Beyond the Wand is a memoir of sorts for Tom Felton. He talks about his family, his time as an actor before Draco Malfoy, and his mental health. He narrates the audiobook and it was just great-he does some funny accents for other people he mentions in the story. It was a pretty deep read really-his family struggles and bonds and then his own drinking problems. He touches on his relationship with various cast members from Harry Potter, but it isn’t the main focus of the book. Really, he was living a pretty normal life outside of Potter because it didn’t consume his entire childhood. His role was not as time consuming at Harry’s, so he had time to be a kid. A rather cheeky kid at that! He shared some funny stories from his childhood antics.
If you are a fan of HP, you will enjoy this book because he does share some behind the scenes info. If you are a fan of child star’s all grown up stories, you will enjoy Tom’s journey. Regardless, the book is endearing!
