Non-Bookish News:

Hi! I hope you all had a great week. I have reached the point in summer vacation where I don’t know what day of the week it is. Its fabulous!! I still have 2 more weeks before I have to head back to work.

We are still dealing with the fall out of the sewage back up. There have been people in and out of the house all week. Its starting to get frustrating because the first crew they sent simply did a half assed job and it had to be redone. It took them FOREVER to get it done too, so to hear a different crew was gonna come back and start over made me want to cry. After the guy promised to eliminate several charges the bill was $6800! That is crazy. And after all the problems we have had, we are fighting tooth and nail to get that price lower. Our insurance only covers $10,000 for the clean up and restoration. So, if we spend it all on clean up, we have nothing left to fix the area and will have 1/2 walls, concrete floors, and a torn up bathroom with no way to fix it. So, hopefully, they come down in price. We have already discovered the over charged for the actual area, so that will take off some of the cost (assuming they accept their mistake…).

Did anyone get anything cool on Prime day? The hubby and I snagged a grill for cheap and we are super excited! Other than that, I didn’t have enough money for all the things I wanted!!!

That has pretty much been my week-staying home reading, waiting around for cleaners to finish so I can take the dogs out, and binge watching Criminal Minds and Friends. I also downloaded the Boomerang app on my apple TV so I have been enjoying old school Scooby Doo and Wacky Races! I love those old cartoons!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. OMG that sounds awful! I am so sorry that happened, I hope they will consider coming down in price.
I missed prime day because I had no money, I really want to get a grill, need to run to Sears one day to look. I miss grilling food! 🙂

I hope you have a great week, Samantha! Happy Reading! ox

  2. Wow, what an insane bill! I hope you get it worked out. I always feel powerless in the face of such news.

Enjoy your books…they are all new to me, but I’ll be watching for your thoughts.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  3. LOL I’m in that same place. Yesterday I was like, wait, is it Saturday? Sunday? I’m lost. I don’t go back to work until August 16th, though I’ve been busy with projects for school at home. I made calendar books – that was a task! And I’m doing lots of laminating and cutting! Enjoy your last couple weeks.

What a pain with the sewer! They better accept their mistake – I wonder if it really was a mistake or just a general attempt to overcharge? Situations like that always make me iffy because we really are at their mercy – you HAVE to get it done, regardless of cost. And yet, you don’t have an unlimited fund available! Good luck!

    Happy reading 🙂

  4. Well sorry to hear about the cleaning problems, that has to be frustrating after going through the whole mess and then having cleanup headaches. I hope they come down in price for you. Seems like they should given they overcharged initially. Having a house sucks sometimes doesn’t it lol?

I love old Scobby Doo, it’s just so old school. 🙂

  5. Sorry to hear about your problems with the cleanup. What a crazy bill?! I hope they are going to come down with the price.
Enjoy your free weeks. Still two weeks to go? WOw.. Happy reading! 😉

  6. Ah man, sorry about all the issues with the sewer and them having to come back. It’s never fun. I hope you get it all sorted out.
I picked up some books on Prime Day that where on sale and got to use that $5 off if you purchase $15 worth of books. I also bought an Amazon Fire 7 which was on sale. I’m going to give it to my mom.
Have a great week and happy reading!

  7. I did not shop on Prime Day. I did check out the price for the Oasis — still too expensive and I don’t need a new Kindle, I just want that one. Ooooh, Devil’s Cut. I love The Bourbon Kings. It sort of reminds me of Dallas.

    • Oh I want the Oasis too!!!!! But they have not ever put it on sale. I am so bummed. I don’t need a new kindle either, but still….its so cool!

  8. That bill is insane. I hope you get that lowered. So sorry about the sewer troubles. If my post today wasn’t titled The Sunday Post I would probably have no clue what day it is. LOL Time is just flying by. Enjoy those fabulous books:)
