Non-Bookish News:

So, I don’t know where y’all are, but here, in SW Ohio, its freakishly hot! I do NOT do well in heat. I am a cold weather girl. Needless to say, I have been staying inside often! However, the dogs want to go out back and play frequently and there is NO shade on our deck at all. I have got to get an umbrella or something! All the trees in our yard are in the back of the yard by the fence line so there is no shade anywhere by the deck. And our backyard is west facing so by the end of the day its crazy hot out there!

I am finally done with school stuff until August 1st! Its a bit of a myth that teachers get the whole summer off. If I’m lucky, I get July uninterrupted. But, I finished administering all the ACT special testing sessions so I am free until I have to teach the test prep class in August! Yay!

My dogs have the worst allergies! They have to take more allergy meds than I do! Poor things are miserable right now! Thankfully, Calleigh is really good about taking her meds with some peanut butter. Yoda, however, is much more skeptical. He is on to my trick. He makes it a challenge to give him his meds. Stinker!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. My NetGalley is empty, I suppose that’s a good thing since I read everything and I’m full of ARCs from blog tours but it is so addictive I can’t stop requesting books! And it’s so hot here as well, I hate the heat I’m a winter girl LOL. Thank you for the mention ♥

    • I have my NetGalley down to 20 books right now and thats pretty darn good for me! My review rating is still at a 90% at least even with all those books out! Its just so easy to request books I can’t help it!

  2. I got Indecent Proposal at the end of last week! I can’t wait to read it. I’ve really been enjoying the O’Malleys. I need to check out Winner Takes All. The cover has my name written all over it. I hear you on the heat. DC has been borderline miserable at times, but I also know it will only get worse here, so I’m trying to be more tolerant of the heat. I’ve found a couple good outside spots where I can find shade, which is nice since my garden style apartment doesn’t have a patio. (Womp womp.) But, let’s be honest… once the temps hit the mid to upper 90s, I’m desperately seeking air conditioning, so it’s not as though I’d use it if I had one.

Hope you have a great week!

  3. Thanks for the COYER Shout out. Even if I co-host it’s is also my favorite challenge.
I knew I liked you for a reason, I am a cold weather girl too! I do like the summer for swimming but I prefer the cold. I hate heat.
My dog is allergic to everything also. He has been doing very good but he can’t eat anything but dog food. We do sneak him Mashed POtatoes but that’s it. If he eats anything else he is in the hospital.

I hope you have an amazing week, Samantha! Happy Reading! 🙂

    • Cold Weather girls unite! Thankfully, my dogs allergies just tend to be seasonal. I can’t imagine food allergies! That would be terrible!

  4. Yes I am also participating in Coyer. I have read 3 books so far. I am hoping to get a dent made in my review copies pile. I hate hot weather as well, here it’s been warm, but not too warm yet. Still at a temperature that I can handle.

I had assumed teachers still had some work to do during summer, but didn’t know how much. I hope you have some uninterrupted weeks as well!

I am sorry to hear about your dogs their allergies, it can be a pain to get pets to take their medicines. We used to have pet rats and eventually they figured out our tricks and then we had to figure out new ways to get them to eat their medicine. I hope you’ll have a great week!

  5. I’m near Sacramento, CA and it is hot here. Our summers are always in the 100’s so it feels awful to be outside. I love that you have to go out with an umbrella. We do that here too with our dog since it is so hot lol. I hope it cools down for you and you enjoy all your new books. Have a great week!!

  6. I’m the opposite of you because I’m a hot weather girl. I cannot stand cold.

Yay, that’s great that you get a little break from school stuff! But aww, poor dogs. I never even thought about the fact that dogs could get allergies.

    Have a great week!

  7. I don’t know how you survive down there! I can’t do it. Columbus was about as close to the humid south as I would get to that weather 😉 (Go Bucks 😉 )

I read the first two O’Malleys books but I’m going to wait for the third one. I’m kind of sitting on the bench and waiting for everyone’s reviews to see if I’ll like it. 🙂

I hope your puppies feel better soon!!! Stupid allergies!!!

    • Well, I did grow up in the south. I spent a lot of time in South Carolina, and then after college my husband and I living in North Carolina for several years. So, Cincinnati is actually cooler than I’m used to!
I loved the first book in the O’Malley series, but the second one wasn’t as good. I am hopeful that the 3rd book picks back up for me!

  8. We had no books in common but the seasons finally kicked in here as well. It’s winter here in Australia and parts of the country FINALLY saw some really cold weather on the weekend.

Sorry to hear your dogs are struggling but hopefully that’ll pass soon.

  9. I hear ya about the hot weather in Ohio. I live in Columbus Ohio and its been really hot. Sometimes I just dread going out but got to get things done.
I love NetGalley I have 13 books right now trying to get caught up with them. Hope you enjoy your books. Have a great week. 🙂

  10. Yes, it has been really hot. I spent all weekend over dressed in long sleeves and helmet for the motorcycle class. It was brutal and it seemed like the instructors liked to talk to us while we were baking in the sun! I am so glad that is over. Since we moved to Connecticut (at the very end of 2014) I have bcome an indoor girl. I love the cold and dressing in layers. Seriously!
I can’t believe all the books you got reviewed last week! That’s amazing. I hope you enjoy your time off, sounds dreamy to have so much reading time.
