Non-Bookish News:
Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends this week! And God Bless to any of you daring enough to brave Black Friday.
I had a great appointment with my therapist this week! So good in fact, now my two teammates have made appointments. She really helped me make connections from past trauma and my current job. I never really understood why I hated certain aspects of my job, but once she helped me make the connection, I was like “OH MY GOSH”. Either way, I turned in my letter of resignation. It was more symbolic since I am still under contract until June 5th, but the act of giving it to the administration was so freeing.
I didn’t really get a lot of reading done this past week. I was hoping a breakthrough at work would lead to a breakthrough in the reading funk. Alas, no luck. Hopefully this week will be better with some time off! We are off Wednesday through next Tuesday, which means I get my birthday off!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

Wow! Holy Cow! Good for you. Teaching was mentally damaging for me, and I had to leave the profession. It’s hard, but my health is so much better. I know it’s months away, but I wish you all the best in whatever you will be doing in the future. I hope you and yours have a very happy Thanksgiving Day. Oh, and I am so jealous you have the new bromance book.
Congrats on your next chapter in life and Happy Turkey and BirthdayDay!
I am looking forward to giving my two weeks notice but first I need a new job 🙂
Have a great week, Samantha!
I am delighted that your therapy has been so successful. And good for you giving in your notice – there are some schools that simply don’t deserve the teachers they have… I LOVED the video of the parents’ questions… lol… I do recall some really funny letters giving reasons for absences. Have a great week, Samantha:)
Happy Thanksgiving Samantha! And I am so happy that your therapist is so great at helping you!!!!
Glad you were able to make a positive change, even if it will be a while before you’re able to enjoy your freedom. How great that your therapist was able to help you!
That’s great the therapist is helping and wow on turning in your resignation. I turned mine in in Sept and it has been freeing. Sometimes you just need a change. Have a great week and enjoy the time off. Happy Thanksgiving!
congrats on taking such a brave step, I hope you find a better situation for next year.!
Wishing you a great reading week, and a happy Thanksgiving
Good for you!! I’m so happy for you, getting that resignation letter in will hopefully make such a difference. Do you think you’ll stick with teaching, just at another school or take a break from it completely? I know that as much as I love teaching, I’m looking forward to a less stressful job for a while.
I’m so glad the therapist was so helpful – that’s what it should be but isn’t always… finding the right therapist is tricky. Hopefully the reading comes next – especially with your time off. And on your birthday to boot! Happy Early Birthday <3
Honestly, I would consider leaving teaching if I knew what else I could do with a teaching degree! I am crap at job searches outside of teaching jobs. Like, how do normal people find new jobs?! I feel like I am so lacking in that area.
Congratulations on handing in your resignation! Reading about the issues you’ve had lately had me a little worried about you so it’s good you’ve taken that step to move somewhere else. And it’s great that seeing your therapist helped you come to some realisations about things you didn’t even know were issues. Seems like you’re on to a winner with that therapist.
My daughter-in-law is a teacher and the last school she was at was horrible because of the administration and lack of support, so I can understand why you feel so good handing in your resignation! Congratulations on finding a great therapist, one that fits with your needs so well.
I’m currently reading Into the Dark and enjoying it. Hope you do, too, Sam! Have a lovely Thanksgiving! 🙂
Here’s to turning over a new leaf. It’s wonderful you have such a great therapist. Happy Thanksgiving!
Congrats on turning your resignation in! That sounds awesome and like it was the right move. And yay for the time off too! Hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving!!
Oh and that cover for The Promise makes me want pizza!!! 🙂
Well you have time to plan and figure out what to do next. I remember you almost left before this year as you had another offer and decided to stay so this is big news. I hope it all works out well for you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday weekend and Happy Birthday!
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
Happy birthday!
And I hope making the decision to move on from your job works out well for you in whatever you do next even if the fresh start can’t begin until June! 🙂
