Welcome to this week’s Sunday Post. This feature is brought to you by The Caffeinated Book Reviewer, so swing by after you are done here and get the full list of participants!

I actually got a few things reviewed this week!

Ok, so I took the School Psychology Praxis Exam (required to get your license and national certification) and I PASSED! I’m so relieved. That is at least 1 thing off my plate.

Now, next is finding a job. I have one option but there are pros and cons. So, help me!
Pros: they will pay me for my internship (not everywhere does) and I can have health insurance (again, not always guaranteed), they have someone who agreed to be my site supervisor (another difficult thing to get people to agree to because they are so overworked), I know 2 teachers at this school so I wouldn’t be totally alone
Cons: Its a 1 hr drive.

Honestly, gas prices suck right now, but I am still inclined to take this offer. After my internship is over at the end of the school year 2023, I could request a different site. I would be employed by the Southern Ohio ESC, so they have LOTS of schools they service. But, everyone FREAKS when I mention it is a 65-70 min drive. That is making me super nervous. Honestly, I don’t think its a big deal-I have a reliable car and my husband is a mechanic.

I had a TOTAL breakdown on Wednesday at work. It is just all too much. Taking 5 college classes, teaching in this disaster of a school year, trying to find a job, not having any personal time, etc. It was just too much and I broke down. Thankfully, we are off for a quasi spring break (Thursday, Friday, and Monday off). I think, going forward, I am going to start using my sick days more frequently. I have plenty and I genuinely fear I will not make it to the end of the school year if I don’t do something. I need to have time to focus on 1 thing at a time and taking some sick days are the only way I can accomplish that.

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. My heart goes out to you as you try to juggle school, personal life, and work. A medal, I am giving you a gold medal. But, lost of good news up there too. *applause, applause* for passing the Praxis. That’s amazing news! Other than the commute, that sounds like a great situation for the fall. The promise of being closer after a year is encouraging too.

  2. It is a rough year but you are SO close. I think if you need to take a sick day you should. Mental health is health too. Is it an hour each way? It will go fast if you listen to audiobooks. That’s actually a plus but you will have some bad weather in your area during the winter. Is it major roads or back roads to get there? Also are you near major shopping or is that school? That way you can shop and combine a trip some days? If it is the only option plus you get paid and have health insurance, then it doesn’t seem like a hard choice. Or could you still find another option?

Yay for the mini-break and congrats on passing your exam!

  3. Congratulations!! Is it weird if I say that I am proud of you? And take that job! I know gas prices are on the rise but it would only be for one year. And maybe a long the way you can find something even better.

    • I cannot even express how much I needed to hear “just take the job” from someone!! Thank you! I don’t know why I feel so much pressure to not take it, but I do.

  4. oh girl you are definitely having a rough time and my heart goes out to you here. You are so close though. Keep up the strength. We are always here for you. And yes take those sick days if you need to!!

  5. Congrats on passing your exam! An hour commute isn’t all that bad when you’re a booklover. I listen to audiobooks on my commute which is just about an hour each way. It’s worth the drive if the job is better than what you have now given that you spend at least 8 hours a day at that job. Being miserable for 8 hours + sucks. Plus, you might be able to get something closer eventually.
