Non-Bookish News:

Happy November! My epic 2 straight weeks of work are over and I am blissfully enjoying this weekend. However, I of course have a million chores to do that have been neglected for 2 weeks! So many dishes, so much laundry!

Thursday I had a hearing test. It was not good. I knew my hearing was worse so I wasn’t really surprised by the results. I was still sad though. Its difficult to see on paper how much sound you are missing. Then, the audiologist said I am now a candidate for a type of cochlear implant called a Baha. That was a bit overwhelming. I have a lot of things to consider for sure. I have an appointment with a new ENT on Monday because anytime a hearing test comes back this bad, an ENT has to consult on possible causes and issues. My hearing loss is caused by the perforation of my ear drum so I am hoping that maybe this new guy will have an idea of how we might be able to attempt to repair the perf. My previous surgeon tried, but was unsuccessful and kind of said there was nothing else that could be done. Hopefully next weekend I will have positive news.

Halloween at work was a bit nutty. The students are permitted to dress up which means basically no learning was accomplished that day! The teachers dressed up as well and some of their costumes were AMAZING! The 2 art teachers dressed us as Wayne and Garth from Waynes world and it was amazing! Some of the kids had some great costumes too. However, I am glad its over and we are back to a normal week. Sort of…Thursday we have our veteran’s day assembly, early release, and then parent teacher conferences that evening. Its gonna be a very long day!

So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!

  1. So samantha I am sad to read about your ear loss! I hope the new surgeon will figure how to repair it. Now Halloween at your school that’s a sight I would have loved to see! We are not big on Halloween in my country so I am always amazed at some of your creations. Have a happy Sunday!

  2. I’m really sorry to hear about the bad news about your hearing loss, Sam. I really hope the new surgeon is able to help you out. Take care, friend. <3
I can imagine the chaos of teens dressing up! Sounds like it was a fun, but tiring day!
    I hope you're having a good weekend.

  3. Sorry to hear about your hearing loss. I hope they find something that will help.
I am also glad Halloween is over, I love it but the parades, candy, parties, trick or treating is always so overwhelming. I am looking forward to normal and the christmas chaos. That is my favorite time of year. 🙂

I hope this week is awesome for you, Samantha! Happy Reading! 🙂

  4. Oh no sorry to hear about the hearing test! Good luck going forward with that- hope they are able to help.

I can imagine now much gets done on dress up day lol. Glad you survived Halloween 🙂

Linus the Later Years and The Rock cracked me up!

  5. I’m glad Halloween was fun. I’m in the same boat of working crazy hours the last 2 weeks, thru trhis Wednesday and then I have to catch up on everything I have been letting slide.

I hope the new guy has some new ideas to help you.

I’m reading Rocky Mountain Cowboy also and I like Abbie Roads. I haven’t read that one yet.

Here’s to a great week. Anne – Books of My Heart

  6. The Rock as Napoleon Dynamite is epic. Glad you shared that one. 🙂
I’m so sorry about the hearing loss. Even if you were expecting the news, it still has to be disappointing. I hope the new ENT and/or surgeon will have some positive feedback for you!
