Non-Bookish News:
I can’t believe August is over! It seemed to fly by. At least this is a holiday weekend here in the US, so I don’t have to go back to work until Tuesday. Its still CRAZY hot here (like 90’s). Work has been miserable with no AC. Teenagers are extra surly when they have to do school in the heat!
One of those surly teenagers shared their cold germs with me and I am not amused. Sore throat, stuffy nose, headache…Its way too early in the school year for this mess. I had to stay home Friday because I felt like the walking dead. Turns out, several of my students stayed home too because they were super sick. I love my students, but it doesn’t bode well for the year if we are already sharing germs! Hopefully I can get some reading done since I can’t seem to muster up the energy to do anything else.
Next weekend I have to give the ACT. Its easy money but I am hoping the weather cools off a little at least! I always feel bad for the kids who are taking the test. I remember how stressful it was. I try to wish them all good luck and calm their nerves.
I was finally approved for In a Badger Way by Shelly Laurenston on NG! I loved book 1 and am dying for more of these hilarious sisters!
So, whats new with you this week? Did you read any of the same books I did? Did you find any great book deals I need to grab ASAP? Let me know in the comments!
Okay the Rose video was hilarious! Thanks for sharing π
OMG a classroom full of teenagers and no AC? What?!? In 90 degree weather! Should seriously be illegal! Please tell me it’s broken and will be repaired when you go back. I hope you feel better, I agree way too early to be sharing germs. My kinders haven’t shared anything yet *knock on wood* and I’m hoping to keep it that way.
Have a great week π
Sadly, no AC is the norm. The building was built in 1928…so no AC and the heat…its radiant heat from a boiler. It bangs and clacks so loud when it heats up, makes the room 9000 degrees, then turns off for the rest of the day.
I just want to point out that none of the school in our town have AC either, never did. I believe only the principal’s office, of course it would, why would they be made to suffer.
That video was too funny. It seems the first thing that happens when school starts back up is the colds and flu. Awful to catch when it’s still so hot out. I hope you kick it soon:)
I feel bad for all my friends going back to school next week, because it’s going to be in the 90s, and like you said, teens are not huge fans of hot temps with no a/c. Combine that with getting back on doing mornings, and it’s a tough day for the teachers. I hope you are feeling better and that the kids keep their germs to themselves. XD
Its a bad combo to have high heat, no AC, early mornings, and teenagers! Obviously the people in charge don’t know any teenagers or they wouldn’t punish me like this!
I have no idea how you surived without any AC!! I would go crazy. I had a great reading month though but I know this month has been stressful with school and your classes and all!!! hope September is a smoother month for you.
OMG the Adam Rippon video was everything. I swear, if he had his own tv show I would watch it. LOL
No AC… and sick? Ugh! That is so miserable. I think if the AC broke at a school here in FL they would probably close the school until it was fixed. Itβs just too hot here to deal.
Oh my cold germs already… That stinks. Hope you feel better. Not a great start to the school year when germs are already going around. Ya, for Shelly Laurenston. I’m waiting for it to come out and I’ll grab from my library. Hope you enjoy all the books you picked up.
Our school’s not air conditioned either, and honestly I don’t know how the teachers and students handle it. And ugh getting sick. Hope you feel better quickly!
Have a great Labor Day!!
Our AC at work broke the last two weeks and it was HOT. The building I am in had no windows and so stuffy, it was awful. I felt so crappy when I came home. I am hoping it is fixed this week but I doubt it.
Kid germs are no fun. I hope you feel better!
Have a great week, Samantha! Happy Reading! π
I read Crew! And you are so lucky to have snatched Grace Draven’s happy Sunday and feel better next week π
I hope you start to feel better soon! π
BTW, that wine video is hilarious! I’ve never seen his videos before but I’m gonna have to look him up now.
That really sucks that you dont have any AC at work. I come to work to use my work’s AC, it’s the best thing about coming to work. LOL. I hope you feel better and that your kids stop sharing their germs with you. π
I read loads of books last week so I’m super happy about that. You’ve got a great haul this week and congrats on getting approved for the Laurenston book, I hope it’s as great as you’re hoping it is.
Happy reading, Sam!
I just nabbed a load of 99p book sales on Amazon amongst them were To Kill A Kingdom (which I’ve wanted for ages!) and Ash Princess. π
