#Top10of2018: Captivating Characters

2018 brought some great reads, but it also brought some GREAT characters. Here are a few of my favorite book characters from this year.

Stella from The Kiss Quotient

Stella has ASD and her story resonated with me so much. She reminded me of several students I have worked with in the past. Its impossible not to feel empathy for her struggles and her dogged determination to get past some of her issues.

Nate from Brooklynaire

Nate gives the billionaire trope a nice twist. He is part geek, part hottie. He is brilliant, kind, and down to earth. Its impossible to not fall for him!

Garrett from Hello Stranger

She is a doctor during a time when women were NOT doctors! That alone is amazing, but Garrett is a strong woman doing something she loves. She is passionate about her profession and willing to resist the men who try to bring her down.

The Mackilligan sisters from Hot and Badgered

These 3 half sisters are hilarious, strong, and a little bit crazy! I love that they are all so different (ethnically and personally) yet fiercely devoted to each other.

Elena and Raphael from Archangel’s Prophecy

Oh Archangel’s Prophecy broke me! I love Elena for being tough and adaptable. She is such a badass. I love Raphael because he loves her fiercely, but never cages her in.

Luciana from Eulogy

Any time a character is a widow, I worry about how a romance will play out. Will the new interest always be competing with a ghost? In this case, we (the readers) know the dead wife well so its even tougher. However, I adored Luciana. She is a quiet type of tough. She is an anchor in a storm-you don’t see it, but its supporting you.

Gwennore and Silas from Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon

These two are super swoony! Gwennore has spent her life hiding due to her heritage. Silas loves her immediately and they are simply too wonderful for words!
