Biting Point has a few things that drew me to it initially: a plus sized heroine and cars. My feelings about the book were up and down. So, here are my thoughts
The good…
I liked Kaidence! She is dealing with the self doubt that anyone can relate to, whether you are plus sized or not. Self doubt is universal so K is a very relatable character. The cars and the races were cool! I think its tough to write about illegal car racing and make it feel exciting, but Lezlynn did a good job. The adrenaline the guys feel comes across the page pretty clear. Titan is super alpha male on steroids. Like, over the top, club a girl over the head and take her back to his cave kind of alpha. This is a double edged sword though…
The not so good…
Titan is so alpha and Kaidence is so insecure it didn’t work for me. There were times he was just plain WRONG and Kaidence doesn’t call him on it. Its like because she is insecure she is willing to let someone mistreat her or wrong her. That really bothered me because I like K as a character and I hated to see that she was so down on herself that she put up with Titan’s bullshit at times. Also, I get it. Titan has money. Congrats to him. But sometimes the book felt more like a promo commercial for high end companies.
So, what’s the bottom line? Here are the facts: plus sized heroine, bad ass alpha car racing uber rich hero, insta-love, hot sex. If you like those tropes and characteristics, then you will probably enjoy the story. If you hate insta-love, keep moving. At times I felt the author used 400 words when 10 would be sufficient, but I’m not an author so what the hell do I know! And, I couldn’t help but pick out the mistakes that editing missed but that could be the teacher in me being pedantic. Despite my issues with the book, I think there is something good here and this series has some potential.
