New York Times best-selling author Kylie Scott presents two stand-alone novellas in this must-listen collection.

Colonist's Wife: She'll run to the far corners of space to avoid her violent history, hide her true identity, and pass herself off as a mail-order bride. But no one can escape their past forever. And as for her new husband...well, he's nothing like she expected.

Heart's a Mess: Former wild child Violet has vowed to get her life in order. To find a good job and settle down. To open a savings account and stop falling for the wrong men. But whatever happens, to most definitely not accidentally sleep with her hot, newly single boss.

So, I wanted to give this a shot because, well, Kylie Scott. I will admit-I thought Lick was just okay. But, the whole futuristic sci-fi thing really appeals to me lately, so when Tantor offered me this audio, I jumped at the chance!

The Colonist’s Wife is a short, smutty read about a woman on the run who agrees to marry a man on another planet, sight unseen. They don’t immediately like each other, but within days they realize their initial assumptions were wrong and they start to grow close (biblically and emotionally if you know what I mean!). But, both of them have secrets and it could tear them apart.

The story is very short and there isn’t much development or anything. At times, its very cheesy. However, I enjoyed it! I think its common for anyone reading sci-fi to be a little bit more willing to accept unrealistic things so if you go into the story with an open mind, you can enjoy The Colonist’s Wife for the smutty goodness it delivers!

Hearts a Mess is an office romance, that is, you guessed it, super smutty. The book was even shorter than The Colonists wife so there was even less character development, but more dirty sex. Violet is trying to change her image and her life, so doing the nasty with her boss is NOT part of the plan. But her boss is a hottie, so her plans go right out the window! I didn’t really care for this story at all though.

Both of these books combined were about 5 hours of total listening time so if you want a short listen that doesn’t require a lot of brain cells to keep up with story, go for this! The narrator is fabulous by the way. Her voice was perfect, she didn’t have any weird quirks that distracted me, and she didn’t ‘over do’ the male voices. She is a new to me narrator, but she has done lots of Meghan March books, which makes me want to give those books a listen now that I found another narrator I enjoy!
