Hide. That’s all Pippa can do to escape the terror chasing her. But now that she’s off the grid in a safe house, she finds plenty of interesting things to watch through the window. Like her new neighbor, with his startling green eyes, killer smile, and sexy bad-boy tattoo . . .

Run. Malcolm West is fleeing the hell he unleashed in his last assignment as an undercover cop. A backwoods bungalow sounds like the perfect place to start over. Until he discovers he’s been set up . . .

Fight. Someone’s gone to a lot of trouble to bring them together. No matter how much he resents that, and his own driving needs, Malcolm will have to dig deep and let loose the banished killer inside himself, or Pippa’s fears could come true faster than the flip of a bolt in a lock . . .

Hidden is the start of the Deep Ops series and combines a few things I love: romantic suspense, secret identities, and cults. Yeah, I gobble up books that have a cult aspect. Our heroine, Pippa, has escaped a cult and has been on the run since she was 18. She has bounced around and lives her life ready to bolt. Mal is an ex cop who moves in next door to Pippa. He knows something is off about her right away.

The story has some set up to do before really getting into the plot. Zanetti introduced the undercover, dark ops group that has recruited Mal (really, the tricked him into moving to the town and joining them). This leads to some interesting supporting characters (and supporting animals). I really enjoy the unique group of people assembled for this rag tag team. Pippa’s identity and role in the cult is only slowly revealed. Mal has to determine if she is still part of the cult. Both Mal and Pippa aren’t entirely trusting of the other, but this doesn’t stop the passion.

Hidden was a bit slow at times, but I think that is somewhat common for 1st books in a series due to the time to set the scene. Once the story really picks up, there is a lot of action and intrigue. You know who the “bad guy” is, but the suspense is from the “how will it play out” aspect. Overall, I enjoyed Hidden and am excited to continue the series!
