COYER Blackout: Reading Challenge

Posted November 28, 2016 in Spotlight Tags:

Disciples, I have a reading challenge that might actually be challenging!! Anyone can join as long as you review on either a blog or goodreads! So, no blog? No problem! But, here are the rules…

wintercoyer-16-17“This time COYER is going to be a 12 week Blackout, where you have to dedicate yourself to reading the books YOU ALREADY  have acquired for less than $1.00.

That’s right,  you have between now and the start of COYER, December 17th, to acquire the books you’ll be reading during COYER. And they must be books you got for less than $1.00. The only exception is audio books, which you must have purchased for less than $5. They must either be eBooks or audio books.

We understand that we’re all constantly acquiring new books,  though.  So we’ve provided you a little relief (believe it or not this was all Michelle!), in the form of a generator.  Every book powers the generator up a little more.  After reading 10 books over 100 pages your generator is fully powered.  Books under 100 pages only provide half the energy… So it would take 20 books under 100 pages to power your generator.

Once your generator is powered up,  you may read ANY one book you want.  Doesn’t matter how much it cost, where you got it,  what format it is.  But your generator only has enough power for ONE book,  so use it immediately and wisely.  You can’t save it to use later,  it’s now or never!

COYER Blackout will run from December 17, 2016 – March 3, 2017. We will leave the linky open 1 extra day for you to get reviews in,  but those reviews need to be posted by the end of the day March 3rd. We will announce winners of (3) $10 gift cards to Amazon or Barnes and Noble on March 4th.”

ARCs count since they are free. KU picks only count if it would be less than $1 to buy the book. No library books either! See what I mean? This challenge is actually challenging. But I am super excited because we all have those books we grabbed for 99 cents or free that fill up our kindles and we never read. (Seriously, I can’t be the only one…).

So, this is me declaring my intent to participate in COYER Blackout! I hope you will join me! Get all the details from the COYERChallenge page! Also, once you make your intent post (either on your blog, GR, FB, etc) you can join the linky!

The challenge is sponsored by Michelle @ Because Reading, Stormi of Books, Movies, Reviews, Oh My, and Berls from Fantasy is More Fun!

Wanna know my goal? Me too! Honestly, I am not setting a number goal for this one. If I can clean out NetGalley, I will consider this a huge success! If I can make a dent in the “Freebies” collection I have going on my kindle it will be a major win! This challenge also starts right around the time my Christmas break does, so I could probably get quite a few books read right off the bat!

Tell me: Are you up for the challenge?

  1. oh wow…what a challenge!!! I really like the thought of it, and since ARC are included it would also be a great way to tackle those. I think I have a few books on my kindle less than a dollar, but I usually buy mainstream romance most of the time so its normally more than that unless I find a good deal. Thanks for sharing…I just might participate and good luck!!!

  2. Wow this is an awesome challenge, I totally agree with you: this is actually challenging! Lol Unfortunately, I really don’t think I can last 12 weeks, yeah I’m the worst. :O
