Goodreads
A king without a bride. A young woman struggling on her own. And a chance encounter that could provide an heir to the throne…
Angus Augustus Braxton-Lenox is the king of a small European kingdom. He lives a charmed life as a royal, but it’s devoid of love and romance. While his mother is obsessed with finding him another wife to continue the regal bloodline, Angus would be content with mere happiness.
Siobhan Falkner was abandoned by her mother and grew up as an orphan. Far from having a silver spoon in her mouth, she works as a waitress by day and dreams of owning her own jewelry store at night.
One hot, erotic night, forbidden lust blossoms between Angus and Siobhan. The stunning woman soon finds herself pregnant and in a pivotal role for the future of the kingdom. But the couple has more to worry about than romance and marred bloodlines. The king’s mother is determined to prevent his son from marrying a commoner. And an enemy of the crown is bent on having her revenge…
Royal Love is the first book in the series by Cristiane Serruya! If you enjoy royal romances, this is a classic! Angus is a king bored with his life and looking for an adventure. Siobhan is a girl who grew up without a mom and works as a waitress. They couldn’t be more different. However, one sexy night is all it takes for their lives to be forever entwined.
The story is pretty predictable. Surprise pregnancy between a royal and a commoner isn’t anything new. But, Angus and Siobhan are likable characters. Their struggle is more external-the people of the country are not down with the pregnant commoner for sure! Angus is a more modern king in the sense he has a job and is very intelligent. He is a business/money whiz! What bothered me about him was that he seemed reluctant to stand up to some people in his life (like his mother-who was an absolute terror!). I wanted him to be more kingly in taking charge! I felt like Siobhan could have used more of a support system. She had her BFF Jaxon, but he wasn’t in the story a whole lot and it made me feel like Siobhan was a bit adrift in this crazy new world.
Now, lets talk audio. If you haven’t experienced duet narration, you are missing out! In this style, the male narrator reads all the male speaking roles and the female reads all the female speaking roles. So, Lacy Laurel is the main narrator (reading the non gender specific parts as well as the female parts) and Logan McAllister reads the male speaking roles. I think this method is even more engaging than duel narration (when one chapter is read by the female narrator and another is read by the male narrator). This was an enjoyable audio for sure!

Royal Romances like Royally Screwed by Emma Chase, Swedish Prince by Karina Halle, or the Royally Mine Anthology…then you will probably like Royal Love!

I’m glad the audio was amazing! I love dual audiobooks as well — so much fun! I’ll keep this one in mind, but I’m sorry it was only a three-star read for you.
