Hangry: adjective—feeling irritable or irrationally angry as a result of being hungry.Sometimes, Crockett felt that in her soul.
And, of course, the one time that she’s being ‘irrationally angry’ would be the time that the hottest guy on the continent walked into her place of business dressed in prison orange.
She should’ve been afraid.
She should’ve taken one look at him and walked the other way.
But, she didn’t.
Crockett Archer, better known as a doormat extraordinaire, didn’t walk away from the people she knew needed her. She’d never been able to do it with a father that didn’t love her, and she wouldn’t be able to do it with a man that didn’t think he deserved a chance at love.
One look is all it takes for Zach Caruso to know that Crockett could be his.
All he would have to do is snap his fingers, and she’d fall right into the palm of his hand.
Which is why Zach turns around and walks far, far away.
He tries not to look back.
He tries to leave her be.
But then he sees how she’s treated by the people that are supposed to love her, and all cognitive thoughts seem to flee his rational brain.
One second, he’s running in the opposite direction. The next, he’s playing her knight in dingy armor.
God help her.

Crockett’s family brings dysfunction to a new level in Gen Pop by Lani Lynn Vale! We have seen Crockett and her grandfather Murphy throughout the previous books, and I am so happy with how her story unfolded.

Crockett’s dad and stepmother are simply horrible to her. Thankfully, she has her grandfather who cares, but her step mother goes out of her way to be wretched. Crockett is the only one in the family who receives such vitriol and she has never known why.

Gen Pop features Zach, who fresh out of prison when he meets Crockett and immediately decides he is going to stay away for her own good. I really hate men who think this because it implies a few things. First, you are so unbelievable gorgeous that a woman wouldn’t care you were trouble so you must stay away. Second, you assume no woman would know danger when it was in front of her and that she incapable of making her own decisions about her life. So he just got out of prison? Crockett doesn’t judge and her grandfather was in prison as well. But Zach is determined to stay away and does so for many months. He has his own crazy ex drama to deal with.

The last couple chapters are fucking bananas!! So much shit happens and I still have questions! What was the deal with Rockett? What happened to Crockett’s dad (ultimately)? It was just this crazy string of events that happens in the blink of an eye and I have questions. But, it was good!  Gen Pop delivers crazy family drama that will have you in shock! Plus, you get the usually laughs throughout a Lani Lynn Vale story that makes everything so wonderful.
