An honorable man who’s lost his way . . . A career woman who hides behind her button-up suits . . . Unexpected romance is the specialty at the Fireside Grill as Stacey Lynn’s captivating series comes full circle.  Becoming an ER doctor had been David McGregor’s mission ever since he could remember. But after tragedy strikes at his hospital in Chicago, David runs away from the guilt—all the way back to Latham Hills, Michigan, where he takes a job tending bar at his childhood friend’s restaurant. That’s how he meets Camden Reed, and the way Camden refuses to give him the time of day should be a turnoff. Instead, he’s drawn to her tough, tightly wound exterior, and soon David realizes that he has a new mission: to see her tightly wound beneath him.   Camden’s fighting tooth and nail to resist the desire she feels for David. Growing up dirt-poor, raised by a single mother, she worked twice as hard to get where she is today, and she doesn’t have any patience for the kind of guy who’d give up a decent paycheck to sling drinks. But when the sexual tension finally combusts between the sheets, Camden discovers that people aren’t always what they seem. As David pushes her past her limits, Camden begins to loosen up—and to trust that, when she falls, there will be someone waiting to catch her.  Look for all of Stacey Lynn’s charming, sensuous Fireside novels:HIS TO LOVE | HIS TO PROTECT | HIS TO CHERISH | HIS TO SEDUCE  “Stunning characters and a bright, refreshing voice drew me in on the first page. I didn’t want to put it down!”New York Times bestselling author Claudia Connor, on His to Protect

“Stacey Lynn writes sweet and sexy characters who you can’t help but fall in love with. I was swept away by a romance that practically sizzled off the page.”New York Times bestselling author A. Meredith Walters, on His to Love Includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

His to Seduce is the final book in the Fireside series. Overall, this series is angsty, so if thats not your thing, you might want to skip this. In this final installment, you get the story of David, a former ER doctor turned bartender, and Camden, an accountant with a need for stability.

Both David and Camden have secrets. Camden looks down on David initially because he is just a bartender, which makes her look like a gold digging bitch. However, as the story unfolds you find out why Camden has an issue with being poor, bartenders, and security. David is hiding the fact that he isn’t ‘just a bartender’. When Camden finds out, she totally overreacts in my opinion. Like, completely flips out! She can’t believe that he would lie to her, yada yada…and it seemed completely ridiculous.

David’s reasons for leaving medicine are heartbreaking and I am sure the reason many people leave medicine. Camden’s story of poverty and the dangers that come with it is also tragic and all to real. Both of these characters are dealing with difficult life events, but both have handled them in very different ways. I found that David’s story comes across as more mature and relatable, while Camden comes across as condescending and cold. Even when you know Camden’s background, her actions still seem difficult to relate to. I really liked David throughout the story, but Camden was just….annoying.

The tension and climax of the story come from the push/pull of these 2. Angsty, overly dramatic moments of “I love you but I can’t do this” become the norm. I thought the plot and the characters had a lot of potential, but I was underwhelmed by the execution of the story and the actions of Camden.

  1. Ohhh I think I would have a problem with the heroine too. She is the kind of heroine that usually turns me off.
Btw, Awesome review, Sam, as always. I’m sorry this didn’t work for you.
