Summer nights and star-crossed lovers! From USA Today bestselling author Sarina Bowen.

Once upon a time, he gave me a summer of friendship, followed by one perfect night. We shared a lot during our short time together. But he skipped a few crucial details.

I didn’t know he was a rock star.

I didn’t know his real name.

Neither of us knew I’d get pregnant.

And I sure never expected to see him again.

Five years later, his tour bus pulls up in Nest Lake, Maine. My little world is about to be shattered by loud music and the pounding of my own foolish heart.

Truth time: I don’t like rockstar romances. But, when one of your favorite authors writes one, you read it. Lies and Lullabies was a swarm of emotions and so much more than a rockstar romance.

Jonas spent a summer in Nest Lake, Maine and met Kira, a local girl who had returned home from college after a tragedy. However, he didn’t tell her who he was-gave her a fake name and all. Now, years later, he is back, trying to find the same peace he found there years ago and gets a shock-he has a daughter.

First, let me say that some readers might not like that Kira didn’t tell Jonas. She figured out who he really was shortly after he left, but she didn’t seek him out, thus keeping him from his daughter. However, I understood. He obviously didn’t want to keep in touch-he didn’t give her his real name, phone number, or try to contact her again. So, I understood her decision. Also, this kind of made it difficult to like Jonas. Thankfully, he is a really well written character and Bowen does a good job of making this romance work.

The story is mostly about Kira and Jonas getting to know each other again and realizing they did have feelings. The story waffles between now and then in a seamless way-where the characters are simply remembering what happened. I could sympathize with Kira’s fear that he would leave all over again and it broke my heart. On top of that, her brother is dealing with medical issues that have her worried for him! The girl is a mess! But, Jonas really grovels well so that was good.

Lies and Lullabies is more than just a rockstar romance or a single mom story. It’s about family and choices, regrets and apologies. Bowen writes another wonderful story that will sweep readers away!
