Adorable and unexpected are the 2 words I would used to describe my experience reading Sexy lies and Rock and Roll by Sawyer Bennett. I am not a huge fan of rock star romances (I usually think the star is douchey and I hate him almost instantly) but I wanted to give this book a try. I’m glad I did!
Evan, our rock star, is what you expect from a rock god-arrogant and self assured. Emma is shy, insecure and smart. I love that she is a lawyer. I also love that Evan pursued Emma. I want the hero to push for the heroine in these kinds of stories. If Emma had to chase him, I wouldn’t have liked this book at all. He is already a rock star; I wanted him to work for it and thankfully he does.
The story gives us the slow build of sexual tension between these two as Emma handles all things legal for Evan. You can totally see what will happen, but it didn’t take away my enjoyment from the story. And the kicker that made this book awesome for me? Emma has a dog. Y’all know I LOVE books with dogs. And, I will admit, there is a bit of an insta-love thing. I adore that, but I know some readers don’t!
Sweet, enjoyable, low angst, and sexy times are in store in Sexy Lies and Rock and Roll by Sawyer Bennett and you will relish every moment!
PS: I think Bennett changed the title/cover at some point. I still have the original cover sent to me a few months ago. Strange, right?
