Just Kidding brings us back the Kilgore SWAT team and I am down for it!! In this book, we get the story of Luke Roberts’ daughter Rowan, and current SWAT member, Dax. Rowan is simply delightful-she is a recent grad with a law degree, she is compassionate, and she is pining after her sister’s ex. I just wanted to hug her. She is in a terrible situation with a work bully (GIRL SAME) and now that she has finished her internship, she returns home to Kilgore.

Dax is great as well. He was burned by a crazy ex who posted inappropriate pictures of him when they were in high school. Now-He is Mr. January in the new SWAT calendar, created to help raise money for charity! I loved that Dax had his own story of a crazy ex. Typically, we hear the story about the girl having pictures exposed so I thought it was really impactful to have it be the hero that experiences this type of traumatic event.

Rowan and Dax are an amusing couple! Rowan is a bit brash and loud and Dax is a little more reserved so they pair well together in Just Kidding. Throw in Rowan’s siblings and you have some hilarity. Add in Dax’s family? You have a mad cap crew that is full of inappropriate jokes and sibling rivalry. What more could you want? Just Kidding provides the sexy romance that Vale is known for, the light hearted joking of a great family, and a touch of danger to keep you wondering what the hell is wrong with people!
